Ok i am new to the ka24de but i know about the sr20...i wanna turbo the ka24de though in a 98 240sx. Now i have some Q's on the engine...
1. does the ka24de have oil squirters?
2. how strong is the crank?
3. can it be a reliable daily driver if built right?
the way i see it is all turbo factory cars have oil squirters while this engine is one the the first N/A engine i have heard off that has them....this is good plus it has an iron block, so i se it as a healthy platform for turbo.....

if you just read some of threads going on I think you will find your answers. Of course I will give some of the answers.
Yes the KAde has piston oil squirters.
not sure exactly how strong the crank is but there are several people out there getting over 250rwhp on daily drivers.
If its low mileage its an excellent platform for a Turbo IMHO.

Crank is very strong in the KA engine. It's the pistons which are the primary weak point. Still, you can safely pass 240hp on the stock internals. The engine is a stroker, so don't expect to run the top end anywhere past 7k rpms. The KA24 is known most for it's excellent torque output.
All in all, it's a healthy turbo platform. WeST's s14 was pushing 300hp to the wheels, PSI's is past that iirc. There are other daily driving turbo KA owners floating around, I'm sure they'll chime in.

My '97 S14 is pushing 318 to the wheels on stock internals. This can be done with right tuning and right amount of fuel. In my case I'm using F-Max stage 2.

Ah haaah! I know who deleted member is now.........Good to hear from you, I never knew your screen name on freshalloy, then again I don't frequent that board as much as I do here and the Nico board. I'm goin with the F-max stage II as well. If I have any Q's I'll be sure to get a hold of ya.......thanks in advance.

yeah, pretty much what everyone has been saying.....with a solid iron block and a crank good to about 350 hp the pistons are going to be your weak point (i think they are good up to 270 hp)....i hear that jwt has some great pistons out there (or i think it's jwt who makes them)....i do know that the stock piston rings on the ka in the 98 altima (i believe its the 98, i'll have to check my print out, i'll get back to you on that but i'm sure it's the 98) are actually better than most if not all aftermarket out there....yeah there's enough low to mid range in that car to throw your bladder into the back seat, you sure as #### can paste those stupid civic crapos back at the line and white smoke with the best of the muscle cars......it is a very good platform for a turbo, not as much potential maybe as an sr engine but certainly stronger (ie wont have to mess with much internals as soon as you would in an sr)
