It might be ideal to wait until you put some miles on it before you make a decision either way.

the welds are fairly decent and i can't wait to put them on my car. the price are also reasonable too. reason why welds either cracks is because of heat expansion and temperature changes. a friend and i talked to mack at mckinney. they used the megan manifold on their own cars. always expect the unexpected. any manifold will prone to cracking except stock cast.

put some miles on it before you assume how good it is. also, i suggest better gaskets. especially for the turbo one. not sure where to get them for that motor. maybe teh same as sr

The man speaks the truth.

That gasket is going to be gone in less than a month.

from what ive been hearing, this manifold is only as good as the engine mounts. As long as the engine doesnt flop everywhere it shouldnt be at risk of cracking the welds. If you are that worried about it cracking, find someone to brace the manifold.

woah hahaha havent seen a CA18 in a while.. i forgot about those motors..

I didnt know meagan made a ca18 manifold. You should look into cutting down engine vibrations with a engine brace or motor mount, they really help the lifespan of your manifold.

Not only is quality motor mounts needed, but so is a flexpipe. That makes a great deal of difference also.

My Megan manifold worked great, mind you I took almost every precaution I could to prevent cracking. Engine torque damper, flexpipe, and ceramic coating on manifold and elbow. I used the Megan gasket because I had nothing else at the time of install, and sure enough it blew weeks after which wasn't that much of a surprise. Make sure you lock the nuts on the manifold/turbo flange as well, they're prone to getting loose and causing a headache.

How much did it run you?

even though it may fit right,
some people say that megan mani's don't improve squat

any way of testing it out (aside from butt dyno)?

Yeah I Dont really like my manifold didnt seem too help improve power actually took alot off the bottom end. just looked good for about 2 weeks if that. and Im looking on this forum b/c I just got done taking my manifold off to find a BLOWN GASKET at the turbo!! And when I get a new gasket I will be putting the STOCK one BACK ON!!

Many drifters seem to like the megan manifolds because of their price, but their quality is mediocre. People just use the megan manifold and just weld it back when it cracks. Some friends that i have that have tried other manifolds have also cracked(I.E. yashio factory, etc.).

I wonder how much R&D went into that manifold.

hey philly, do you have a problem with the 3rd upper stud from the front of the engine hitting the header? I have the problem and i am wondering if its with other manifolds also.

Thanks, Jeff

u guys are haters. u need to know how to make this manifold work, aka coating bracing, pb'ing ur mounts and metal gasket. stop whining

A manifold shouldn't be made to work.

1 year here on my mani no complaints, good mounts and good exhaust hangers i'm good to go.
although I did have a ca18 with an aftermarket manifold, never kept the ca long enough to come up with a review.

I wonder how much R&D went into that manifold.

What you mean you're supposed to line up the pulses and work on resonance and exhaust flow reversion? NAHHHH just put some damn tubes together and call it a day!

Uuuum, did you ever happen to think that the blown gasket at the turbo is what made you lose some of your bottom end?

the studs to the turbo will back out EASY, we put lots of thredlock on mine and they backed out in 2 days, so we just welded them on. problem solved

My friend had to weld his on too, it backed out a few times and then they just ended tackin it in.

there a decent product for the price.

This is why people choose to use Megan products. Mediocre products for Mediocre setups.

I have one for my sr, and its fine. The nuts came loose once, but since then they were tightened, gasket was changed and no problems since.

Here's another tip if you want to "make" it work

Don't use the shit gaskets they give you...get OEM replacement stuff
