through these forums i purchased a 5 lug conversion from a user named ugay. here is the thread:http://www.zilvia.net/f/showthread.php?p=1079634#post1079634 i payed $622 through paypal. about a week later he emails me claiming that ups screwed up on the shipping and were charging him to resend them. so we agreed that a refund would be better. a few weeks later i never got a refund and he doesnt respond to any messages or emails. i decided to file a claim through paypal but they were only able to recover $9 of the $622 he owes me. i think he probably never had the items and decided to scam me which is pretty fucked up. im not asking for you guys to feel sorry for me but to help me on finding some info. i need to know if anyone knows this guy, how to contact him, where he lives, or any info that can help to get my money back. thanks

File a dispute on paypal in the dispute console, worked for me on ebay one time when I paid someone who never sent my shit on ebay once, then threw up an "unpaid item" dispute when I pay for EVERYTHING I win the instant I win it.
A week after dispute, I had my money back

i did file a dispute...then i escalated it to a claim because the seller wasnt responding. so paypal was only able to recover $9 of the $622 i sent.

Give me all information you have on him (name, address, phone number, email, paypal adress, etc...) I'll see what I can dig up. I got ripped off on another site awhile ago and due to my digging I found the guys phone number, called it and his mother answered. Sure enough, I got my money back.

Check it, paypal MAY have given you his last name, and your sale may have gotten you to where he lives and you MAY have a phone number.
If you have any 2 of the 3 of these items, go to www.anywho.com and use the reverse lookup and see if you can't find this fucker, have some very large and very not-nice friends drop by and GET your shit and/or your cash.
... another option is to google his email address and/or name, see if you may be able to catch him being a habitual online job applicant, this would give you his name address and phone number (and sometimes date of birth and SSN)

Your screwed, you deal with paypal without buying their full money back insurance.
Il say it agen:
Paypal will only withdraw money to pay you back from the sellers paypal account.
If the seller realy was a scammer, he would know that if he took all the money out of his paypal, it would pretty much be a empty account.
Now heres where it gets gay, if there is no money in the sellers account, paypal cant refund you NO MATTER WHAT.
That is why, if i ever use paypal and the price is above 100, i ALWAYS buy the money back insurance.
Sorry to say, theres noting you can do.
Best bet, is to report him, and hand over the info you found to the police department. And it will take them awhile to even file the report and start work.

Really sorry to hear about you situation, all I can say is keep digging for info on this guy. See if he has like a yahoo or msn and try to get more info that way. You would really be lucky if you found that jerks myspace and you could get to him through his friends. I wish you the best of luck man.

That is really a shame they can't refund unless the money is in their account.
Great tip on the money back insurance!

yeah...fuck paypal i got scammed over a 250 dollar item and since the guy cleared his account they couldnt get me anything back. You could try calling the police. theres also a government form you can fill out for when you get internet-scammed.
he seems to have posted mostly in FS or WTB section...maybe he bought something and someone has a shipping address...just search for his name and find start PMing ppl?
hope u get ur cash back

I sent you a PM with a bunch of info... Assuming he actually scammed you (which we have no way of knowing for sure), I hope it helps. BTW, I'm not doubting your story, just pointing out that we don't have any proof. Regardless, I sent you a metric shit-ton of info, so I hope it helps you get your $$$ back.

Hope you get your money back.
I hate paypal because of the money thing they never give back. If I had to use paypal I ALWAY charge my credit card because they can get my money back no matter what.
I never file anything at paypal because the minute I get scammed, I call my credit card company fill out a form and get my money back instantly. Paypal even call me and informed me of their way, I ask them why when they cant get my money back three times when I made complaints. They could not answer and said that the way I do it is not the correct way. But I got my money back and I think my credit card made a chargeback against paypal, that is why they got mad.
