So I just completed the swap (s13 b/t into s14 {auto to manual}) and it was running fine for maybe an hour and now I have a few problems...
1. temperature gauge seems to be reading that its over heating badly, yet it's not close to how hot it shows (almost pegged out)
2. gauges/interior lights don't turn on until i give it throttle then are hit and miss after that.
3. the main worry.....i drive it for about 5 seconds and then it starts to bog down and cut off, i try to give it throttle, but it doesn't effect it. my timing is off, but can it cause a problem like this?
:wtf:
any help would be appreciated...

well for the number one issue, check the wiring to the coolant temperature sensor, also check the sensor itself

Stock 240 temp gauges are shit. Do the right thing and invest in an aftermarket unit.

Not sure on this one, but sounds like one of your connections or grounds are loose. Check your wiring.

To answer your last question, the answer is yes. If your timing is off your car will bog and stumble. Fix your timing.

thanks for your help guys...but now its acting strange, and i think its a ground, or at least i hope;
it's still boggin down and cutting out on me, then battery is dead. i got a brand new battery, and replaced my alt.
my battery lasted maybe 30 minutes, then my car started to cut out and die again.
ive read other threads and am getting that there could be a drain on my batt somewhere, or a ground could be not connected somewhere...
if someone could help me out and tell me where all the grounds should be that would be awesome! (how many and where)
thanks in advance

That'd be too easy.
Seriously, you should check out the Factory Service Manual. It should have all the pertinent wiring diagrams. Specifically, look at the connection between the alternator and the battery.
Also, just because you received a new alternator doesn't mean it's good. Hook up a multimeter and make sure your alt is working. There have been more than one case of people replacing the alternator with a "new" one only to find out that the new one was crap as well.
As far as items that could drain your battery are concerned check your car alarm if you have one. That's the problem 90% of the time. Basically, check any aftermarket electronics that you've hooked up.
Lastly, if your engine is still stumbling after having fixed the timing check for any boost/vacuum leaks. Also check all your plugs and injectors to make sure they're firing. The easiest way to do this is disconnect the injector harnesses, one by one, while the engine is running. If the engine speed drops after you remove the injector harness it means it's working properly.
Of course, if your engine has a shitty idle it's harder to tell if the engine speed is dropping.
Anyway, try those things and let us know if any of it helped. Actually, come back, even if it didn't. That we know what you tried and what didn't work. Makes troubleshooting a lot easier.
Good Luck!

well, thanks for the help, and it was a good alternator, but i had a short in my alt harness. so it was killing the alternator very quick.
So after I found the short and fixed it & rebuilt the alternator, it ran like a champ.
