Another Ebay shifter question

Ok, trying to be a cheap A$$ I bought a ebay short shifter. Now either I am having the biggest brain fart in history or the shifter just doesn't work with my tranny. I put the shifter together but the mounting plate sits about an inch or more higher on the tranny now and I'm stuck. Sry you installed it wrong, you know the plate you let the shifter sit it? well this is the order you put the objects into the plate. the reason for this is that the big metal ring acts like a spacer, so you dont have to move the shifter as much.: http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b43/aifviper/89-02-240sx-shifter-2.jpg

dont even wory about puting the snap rings back in, thats what the metal blocks about, but be carefull when you put it back on because you need to bold the plate to the tranny before you put the shifter in. the reason for that is because the mount for the short shifter will block the 4 out of 6 bolts thats on your tranny. and watch out it is very hard to take off that metal block once its on. and if its stuck on hit it out backwards with a screw driver.

wait i take that back, put #2 on top on the ball, it unscrews, and use the stock plastic part that looks simular but has 2 metal thinks sticking out of it whare #2 should be listed above. and you might want to use locktight on the short shifter.

hahahaha i have that same shifter in my car! i put it together wrong to and it came off will i was driving VERY pissed off i made my own mounting plate for it works a lot better. it actually works i was surprised but. be careful on ebay you can get screwed alot...
