I'll keep this short and sweet. buy yourself a new used tranny.

My 3rd gear is gone. I think I will just go for a rebuild. You're gambling with your money when you buy used parts. Well, usually. That's how I look at it. How can you be absolutely a used trans is going to be good enought to buy unless you actually drive it yourself? Most times you won't have that option, you just have to rely on what people claim.
But if you have it rebuilt, it will should be ''good as new'' or at least the best a used trans can get. I think it would be the next best thing after buying a brand new transmission. But who the hell wants to do that? thats my $.02
by the way, I'm new to Silvia's. All I really know are rotarys/FC's. I've haven't gotten a chance to work on them much unless there broken (which seems to happen alot) So if i'm telling this guy something wrong, let me know.

id rather pay 30 bucks a mission for 5 or 6 in 3 years than be a grand or more out in a tranny rebuild IMO.

If you can rebuild it yourself, that would be the way to go. Replace the synchros. As said earlier, if you go with a used transmission you are risking the same thing. Especially with how old 240s are, most trannys are bound to have as much wear. The only way to get an accurate price is to go to a place that does rebuilds and ask them/tell them what you want done. We aren't psychic. If you can't figure it out after this then you really are ignorant

I'd reply to that, but I can't read ebonics. Try again using English please.

are there any popular tranny rebuild places? do you have to go to a special place to install an OS giken gear set? i would think i can send my tranny anywhere in cali? any ideas on how much a rebuild would be? how hard is it to do it yourself? is it just alot of small things? or you need special tools?

Also sentences start with capital letters, then end with punctuation, and "I" should be capitalized when referring to yourself.
