I just thought of this crazy ass idea, I have been trying it out for a couple months now, here it comes, everyone should try this. GET A JOB
Don't ruin a perfectly good car just so you can get a new engine. It won't take you that long to raise money for an SR, I am sure it won't take you that long, as long as you don't buy stupid things and dedicate your money to the new engine. Or ask your parents to loan you some money.

I'm really going to laugh when your dad takes it in and they replace the throttle body and everything after it. Or he just gets the engine repaired and then is upset at you when they tell him there was water in there. And besides... get your own damn sr...All the rest of us work hard for ar money. If you want to do something morally wrong why dont you just steal or sell drugs. I know someone who was stealing honda JDM parts from kids at my school and selling them on ebay, he made over a thousand bucks before he graduated...and thats just from one school....

Yeah... right.
If my kid (assuming I had one) ever blew his motor on purpose.... I would buy him something for transportation. Sneakers. NOT a JDM motor that is illegal in most states to own.
You're an idiot. SR240DET with no sr motor. Wannabe? Ricer? Whats the word I'm looking for?
Oh well... I'm sure someone will come along and say it for me.

if your working 40 hours and getting 7 bucks an hour, you will get the SR in no time. You just can't expect to have everything right then and there. That is what spoiled brats are like. I take it you are used to your dad giving you what you wanted all the time. The fact that the motor is illegal is another reason your dad probably won't get you the SR. So you are just going to have to wait for the money to build up. You should be starting to research about the engine and getting all the info you need, and some quotes before you try to cheat your dad out of his money, but if you already did those than, i guess learn some more and just wait.

my dad doesnt by me stuff... only when i need it... other wise my car would be hooked up by now.... and we both know the motor is illegal.. but they could care less in florida.. we dont have emissions or anything like that.... it was just a thought.. i already said i didnt even agree with it....

sounds like he doesn't want to spend more than he has too on your car. it would cost less and be more reliable to rebuild the KA, rather to put in a totally different engine/transmission setup what would cost 2.5 times more
it might sound suspicious when your mechanic talks to your dad and says it somehow got hydrolocked. BUT if you want to make it look more accidental, get a cold air intake and accidentally drive through a foot of water. that is if you would have the heart to do that. i couldn't.

how much do you think it would cost to get a KA rebuild?? my s14 has 130000 miles on it... is that a ok amount of miles to buy a turbo kit for it??? oh btw i bought my 240.. that why im so low on cash right now.... and these stupid ideas are just pooring out.....

You are an idiot, no father in his right mind would buy their 16-yr old son an illegal engine to put in his car, why the fuck would he want to ship an engine all the way from Japan when there is a perfectly good engine here in US.
if you were my son you be riding a fucking bicycle.

I have a better idea than hydrolocking a perfectly good engine.
Take it out and ship it to me...hell, I'll pay the shipping.
If your car doesn't have a motor, then it OBVIOUSLY needs one. Then your dad will help you buy the SR20.
Win Win situation I think.
You game?

Man, be happy with what you got. I'm 17 and i just bought a 240 in May. So what, i wont have the nicest clothes and newest shoes and crap for a while, but atleast i know my car can smoke the heck out of most of...if not all the ricers at my school. I've got a job too, but i've got insurance to pay, car payments, and a cell phone bill, so quit whining and be patient like everybody else. I know its hard, but it'll be that much more sweet when you get the SR knowing you earned it instead of somebody buying it for you. You'll appreciated more.

one more thing that got left out dont turbo your engine. unless you want to do internal work which is in most cases appropriate to do on most occasions for going turbo

Exactly, youll be happy knowing you earned it n bought it yourself, instead of just getting a handout or something. I'm 17 and have been saving for a 240 for a while now, but i dont really care because when the day comes and i fork out my money for a 240, i'll have the biggest damn smile on my face because why? I payed for it myself, i didnt get it from daddy or mommy or whatever. Just like if you play Gran Turismo for instance, even in a damn video game you get satisfied when you race and earn money to mod your car, not just type in a money cheat n buy everything, it gets boring.

You are a sorry loooooser I was 17 when I got my 240 and I am now 23 I just got my SR this year. Why did it take so long....I put myself through college, got a job, now earn a living where I can afford to. Relax, good things come to those who wait and waiting to scam your dad is not what I was talking about. If you can't afford it that means you shouldn't have it. It's probally too fast for you anyway..."you'll put your eye out kid"

Why dont you get Daddy Dearest to take you out for a loan from the bank? If you saved 5-7k for that car, I assume from that job because you sound like a true dedicated 240 lover who would break his back for his beloved car, then your parents would have no issue with taking you to the bizzank...
word
I'd be careful dude...plans like that usually backfire. And...you'll probably end up having the motor FIXED not replaced...then you'll REEALLY be stuck because you'll have a car that runs like shit.
Seriously...just save up and get the SR on your own. Don't make daddy pay for it.

Yeah, shitty idea but the guy said in the description that he doesn't agree with it...so I would assume he wouldn't actually do it. What I don't understand is why everybody is always in such a rush to get stuff...I've had my car for a year and I'm still pushing 155hp *shrugs* I've done some suspension stuff is about it. I'm not in a big rush, just take it easy and save for exactly what you want. I'm not going to spend a dime on a part untill I have enough for the best. Just save up and have fun.

Ok, save up for a turbo for your DE. I cannot understand why people keep wanting an SR20DET. It's a vicious fad and it's getting way too much coverage.
Second, I make 7.50/hr in shit-poor Arizona, working maintenance for Northern Arizona University. I do plumbing, electrical, general maintenance, and public relations for this wage. My job consists of routine jobs for what would normally be considered journeyman in that particular field.
I sympathize with you, because I was once young and stupid. In fact, I don't know if much has changed. However, one thing any self-respecting car nut would never do is ruin a perfectly good engine to have his or her dad buy him something else. If you owned a Yugo, I would consider it a mercy killing. I get a lot of help from my parents, truth be told, but not for car-related items. I had a 76 Ford Courier when I was 16, and any modifications would have exploded the engine. I had to wait until I had my third vehicle, the 96 Nissan pickup to do even remote modifications.
STOP BEING SILLY! The sooner you don't have any help with your car mods, the more character you'll have, and the more you'll learn.

AMEN to that! I have just taken a leave of absence from college (1-2 yrs to pay off debts) and am now supporting myself off of $7.50/hr 40hr/wk and still have no moneyt what so ever! I am growing as a person in leaps and bounds. The way i figure it the less you have the more fun life is sometimes!
I think we have been a tiny bit too harsh on this kid, don't you think...Some pretty harsh assumptions have been made about him, when we all know damb well that when we were his age we used to lie and think of diabolical schemes. But I never went through w/ 99% of the shit i thought of, and really doubt this guy would either.

I wouldn't hydrolock your engine, if you were really hard core into this little scheme i would take your car out at night, mostly on the weekends and drive from bar to bar looking for drunk drivers. Find one and slam your car(safe as possiple) just damaging the front But jesus dont hit his back end. Since He is drunk you can make it out to be his fault and you can get a complete Front Clip with No more pop up lights at that=)
