240 wiring harness question

So i just picked up a none running 240sx. I have a question about the engine wiring harness and if the harness is wired into the gauges, head lights, and tail lights. If i change the car from a sohc to a dohc and change the harness do i need to use the ka24e harness to make all the lights and other none engine electronic sensor for the car to run.

no no.....the engine harness is seperate from the elictrical harness
