alright, i have a stock 90 240sx se(auto). i'm begining to mod my car how it is... without a tranny or sr swap yet. thats miles and miles down the road. about how much extra ponies will i get if i install an injen intake with an apex i filter, high performance plugs a wires, and an apex i n1 dual catback system? i run 93 octane. and i often put some nos octane boost in my gas(which i suggest to anyone). what kind of plugs and wires should i get... i don't want to spend about $75 for wires and maybe $50 for plugs. thanks. <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sly.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':sly:'>

I think it was determined that stock (OEM) wires are the best actually. As for plugs, I dunno. You'r not going to have to spend alot, that's for sure. However, don't expect power gains unless your plugs are seriously screwed up right now. Maybe somepne else can suggest some plugs though.
Maybe a good tuneup would be best. Your already on your way. Do a Z32 fuel filter while your at it.
Good luck,
Jeff

yeah, I believe it was at last years 240 convention, they put a 240 with (I believe) Intake/Exhaust, and dynoed it with stock plugs/wires, and aftermarket. they actually lost a little bit with the aftermarket (like 1.3hp or something like that).
from what I've heard around the forums, is that unless you have an aftermarket ignition system, and more then the basic boltons, stock wires/plugs are great. also, I belive our OEM plugs are NGK.
<edit> also, when I talk to mechanics, either dealer or individual, they always recommend NGK.

I have actually seen the NOS octane boost in a store not too far from where I live(hell, like 15-20 miles away)
so anyway, I was kinda sceptical about buying it. The reason being, is that the people on zilvia always always always vote against putting anything in the fuel tank if it's not fuel. I got that into my head, and have never bought any kind of fuel injector cleaner, octane booster, engine cleaner, Z-max, or anything else.
I was wondering from your personal experience with NOS octane booster, what kind of difference in performance have u felt? And how much does each bottle cost around where u live?(around here is $12) thanks

why do u want such high octane gas, i thought it was bad or at least unecesary for an engine to run higher octane gas than its supposed to (in this case regular unleaded).
i thought ppl used higher octane gas cuz theyr runnin higher compression ratios, but if ur not, is there even a reason too?<img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/eh.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':eh:'>
i know back in the day they used to tell ppl to put premium gas now and then, like once a month or something like that because the higher priced gas was the only one with a cleaning agent, but now all the gas has it... at least that what an auto teacher told me

I use premium which is 93 here. Why? Cause it says to on the gas door, Good enough for me <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/thumbs-up.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=''>

I don't care what anyone else says, when my engine was acting like shit...I used 93 octane gas for a while and it actually hurt my perfromance and made me smoke more. I then went to 89 octane and used Zmax. Holy shit what a difference. It cleanned up all the black smoke i wa shaving, and made my seat horsepower go up as well! I don't think you should be wasting money on nos octane booster unless you have advanced your timming or upped your compression.
The most bang for the buck, would have to be a NOS system, but I just don't like that stuff <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/cool.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=''>

nowhere in my car did it say that i was supposed to run premium, on my z it does right by the gages, but it didnt on my 240, and the guy before me used to run on regular:nervous: ... well at least i'll know for the next one
sorry for my ignorance <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/satisfied.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':satisfied:'>

does z-max really help? i've seen the infomercials, but it always seemed too good to be true.

well, about the thing of the nos additive... there was a trade school shop who dynoed an exhaust upgrade w/ and w/o the additive... it helped acheive an extra couple of horses. yeah. but back to my topic...... is the apexi n1 dual the best exhaust you can get for the 240? what about the GReedy system? and who makes the best air filter?

i thought Z-max had a class action suit filed against it for fraudulent claims. translation; it doesn't work.

Well, with all the claims they make on their show, i'm sure that they are really pushing the bullshit meter off the scale. However, I had a car once that was burning oil, and an additive made it stop almost completely. It wasn't zmax but I think those things are all basically the same. So i think in some certain situation, additives can actually solve problems.

to actually answer this guy's question, i would reccommend buying tires first. tires improve cornering, braking, and to some degree, acceleration. good tires is always the first thing i buy, it makes the biggest difference of anything you can buy outside of a turbo kit, but for thousands less.

i'm too lazy to read the posts above, but I run on regular and its fine. <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':D'> Every now and again i get some high octane when money allows......i know im sad <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sad.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':('>
