So I have a 90 S13 with 2.4L SOHC KA24E that was rebuilt not long ago, I'd estimate 15k miles on it. It got stolen this last January and I found it up on a mountain stripped of engine parts including cold air intake, radiator, battery, wires, and other parts. I put a new radiator in, new battery, new plugs and wires, and it wouldn't idle at all, it would just die. Well 2 mechanics have looked at it and haven't been able to figure it out. I replaced the MAFS with brand new one, I put all new injectors in, ran fuel system cleaner, the air intake system is new and clean as hell, computer has no codes stored in it. After the second mechanic, it idles barley, very rough though, and will die if it's cold. When it's hot it just jumps between 400-1500 rpm, and sounds bad. It backfires and sputters. Has anyone had this problem and been able to figure something out, I've searched the net and found lots of threads about these motors rough idling, but haven't been able to figure it out. I am looking into the coolant temperature sensor now. PLEASE HELP!

lol this thread was posted in 2006 and all the responses are from today.

240transformer - check all the vacuum hoses try spraying brake clean where then intake manifold meets the engine and see if there is a spike in the rpm. if there is you need and intake manifold gasket. kinda hard to tell without a code but there is a start.
