how do you test the sender? the one that sends from the block to the gauge?

I don't know if my sender is faulty or not, it warms up awfully quickly and stays there. In a completely cold car, it takes probably a minute and a half to warm up to midlevel. and it stays right there too.

What do you guys think? Faulty sender? I'd really rather not spend the $20 for a new one if I don't have to. Could the problem lie elsewhere?

yeah, I could only find the procedure for the coolant temp SENSOR, the one where you check the resistance of it, but not the sender :(

It's in the gauge section. Ground the lead, if the gauge moves accurately from C to H then the sender is bad, replace it.
