I dont usually ask for opinions but whatever.
So I have these Super Made style lights and everyone allways leaves them black and has a black or carbon hood with these.
Fuck that I like paint soo Im thinking about painting the lids body color and leaving the rest black
what do you think?
or anyone have pics with paint on them?
they are 2 piece

For the dudes saying paint you mean everything or just the lids?
Nice, better than constant flip ups.

i think u should paint just the lids like you say, first. would make it look aggressive. if you dont like it, you can always paint those pieces afterwards. painting everything the same would look similar to other setups, which have been done before.

leave them black, leave them gaudy. hinge and spring load the lids so that they flip up and down randomly while drifting like Haraguchis.
Fuck all this car show paint match shit. Paint matching them to your car would be total Nico "I KEEP IT KLEEN!!! NEXT STOP ROTA GT4 KNOCKOFFS" spec.

you can get that hood from the nissan dealer, i think a new one is like 600 dollars about, or the junkyard probably has a ton for like 50 bucks
boost infested
09-25-2006, 10:59 PM
If your hood is black then the lids will stay black.. if your hood is body color... then paint the lids too..... but it might mistaken for a newer camaro... lol.
The non-douchebag answer is.
It's a uras Erobon duct (or copy) molded onto stock

Painted covers. The stock flip ups have the black plastic trim stock and it would look akward painted. Paint only the lids.

I figured the hood was stock with the Fiberglass Vents molded on, but it looked like it might have been a hood from a company that was making them about a year or two ago. I forgot the name and if that was it I was asking him for the company or order location.... prick

That hood is 100% custom y0. He should do a 'how to' write up on it.

Paint lid, but NOT the housing. It'll look kinda OEM, and look good. Or whatever, paint the whole thing, just take pics of the shit mounted, then have someone photoshop.
mount it up, look at it
if you don't like it all black, paint the lid
if you don't like the housing black, paint the housing
if you don't like it at all, smack yourself in the face

I messed with this crap some more
lamps came in yesterday
I got these:
http://www.d-faction.com/pictures/mike/piaa.JPG
the middle bulb is a marker/parking light
It took some work on my crappy fenders/bumper/hood to get the buckets to fit right ,,
I welded up some mounts to support the buckets but I didnt like how everything came out so I scrapped it all,,gonna try something new next week.
Some mock up:
heres the driving light

fog light,,its yellow

If this works...
Throw a s13 hood on it. These lights look nice, just that the gaps make them look weird. The s13 hood should remove the lines and make everything look flush and oem.

TokyoNights - I've always dug how you've put your car together. Somewhat inspirational, since my car is that same funky champagne color. my thoughts are that you should paint the tops/covers and leave the buckets black for that goth look, heh, and see how it comes out. If it's shitty, you could always paint the buckets to match, or is it a one-way ticket? That is, do you only have one shot at putting it all together after paint?
There's no way this car could be mistaken for a camaro. It may look similar in the headlights, but come on, it's a sweet S13 with aero. :loco: By the way, what front bumper is that? Is it B-magic, or BN-sports?
cheers,
C

but the bucket black, i think it'l give some depth, and just keep it hot

i agree with most people... paint the lid, keep the bucket black.. black housing headlights always look more agressive than all painted...
here's a 'chopped example.. not the best, but it gets the point across..

Have you drove with the new light setup at night bro? If so what did you think of light output, and did to many drivers hi-beam you? I'm asking 'cause I just bought a similar non pop-up housing and need to wire new lights in. Should get the housing's tomorrow will post pics. * haven't decided to paint them or not, kinda like the carbon fiber look*
