This might be a stupid question but whats the main reason people buy rims? What was it really made for? How does it help?

Generally you buy rims for 2 reasons..  L000ks, and performance, or necessity.

Rims are all about the looks for 99% of the general population.. .for those of us that performance is an issue, anything 17" or larger, you're taking a substantial performance hit (increased weight and rotating mass). 16"s is probably optimal in my opinion.

New rims also give you the option of running fatter tires if you have an excess of power and require more traction to take advantage of it.

You can get looks and performance from many wheels... (Lightweight and Good Looking...)

Plus some wheels are put on for their beneficial strength.  Forged wheels as opposed to molded.  It's never good to be rallying and have your rim shatter in a pot hole at 90mph (just guessing... never done it).

But these do not include 23" 50lb Chrome wheels for your Cadillac Escalde and the like... <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':D'>

I feel into the necessity catagory on my last car...91 sentra aka Pimpssan Shitra &nbsp;I was fucking around in a parking lot and slid into a curb fliped up on one wheel (LF) and then crashed down on the left rear and bent the suspension almost horizontal, while bending the shit out of three wheels. &nbsp;I got Rage 10 15" wheels <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/blush.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=''> &nbsp;<img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/blush.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=''> &nbsp;<img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/blush.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=''>
They weren't the best looking but i got rims and tires for $700 and it defenately increased my turning performance A LOT but decreased my acceloration!
I then had them stolen from me and was forced to junk the car <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sad.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':('> &nbsp;<img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sad.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':('> &nbsp;<img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sad.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':('>

Looks? who cares about looks, nice light forged wheels &nbsp;<img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':D'> &nbsp;I'll be getting myself some 5 Zigen Becketts FN-01R in Bronze. It's all about reducing the rotational mass. &nbsp;<img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/thumbs-up.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=''>

If anyone is interested in getting 5 Zigen wheels, email me at [email protected]

Blackfox, did you get the new prices? The FN01R went down a little.
