I have been pondering how a roots SC setup might work and am curious about the electromag clutch that certain superchargers are supposed to have.
I assume that there is an electrical connection of some sort on the unit (a plug of some kind), but all the pictures of SC's that I've seen don't seem to have any electrical connections.
Second, if the clutch is "off", I assume that air will still flow through the unit? Does that mean that the compressor does not spin when the clutch is off. If not then how much of an impedance to airflow will the SC unit make on the intake side.
I guess my question ultimately is, can a SC really be turned on and off at will. And if it is "off" will the car's driveability be choked by the presence of the SC at the intake?
