just wondering how my 240 would fare against the late model preludes, one in particular, with a really bad rice exhaust, not sure if its and sh though, and my car has injen intake and (soon) an HKS Hiper exhaust...lemme know

Straight line: you will be decimated.
Twisties: you can take em...there is a lockup feature that cuts power to the wheels in sharp corners in those preludes.

iirc, no one has got away and won a 200hp vtec lude... the type SH has:

200hp
156tq

Post some exhaust sounds once you get it in and on. I have been wanting to get the Hyper series for the last month or so. Still trying to fit it in on the budget.

As for the prelude...he's gonna win, unless you slap a turbo on overnight...

it could be a base model, you know. Not every Lude is the SH.

Yes, and keep in mind the base model 5th gen Prelude uses the same engine and transmission as the Type-SH. The Type-SH model is famous for the ATTS differential and it carries an extra 100lb or so.

All 5th gen ludes have same Hp and Tq. the 1997-1999 ludes have 195 hp while the 2000+ ludes have 200 hp. the type sh has ATTS (active torque transfer system) it gives more power to the outside wheels during a sharp turn so it acts like RWD. it is really effective and helps alot at high speed turns. how do i know? ive seen it in action. even though the Sh weighs more a good driver or a lighter can make up the difference.

you cant take him in a straight line or the twisties.
he can take the turns just as fast as you and power out of em even faster.

It acts like RWD? If it acted like RWD it would be on Option Videos. Oh well im confused...Maybe you meant LSD? Anyways... I do agree with you though... You really couldn't take an SH anywhere with intake and exhaust, no matter the brands.

My '96 manual 240SX w/ just the poor-man's intake mod was ahead of my brother's 00 AUTOMATIC Lude w/ CAI until 80mph, after that he just went by Hope that gets you a decent picture? They have really good top-end power.

Edit: What I have heard (from being the brother) is that the base model is faster/better then the SH model because of the fact they don't have ATT, which weighs down the SH models. A while back, SCC did a review on the SH and they didn't like ATT for various reasons, so beats me

Would you people cut it out w/ the drifting shit. My goodness! Its getting out of hand. Yes its a FWD but the ATTS is a pretty good system.
Don't get me wrong I have attempted drifting before in a parking lot w/ a friend of mine w/ a Levin (his car is nice ) But let it go. He didn't ask who would win in a drifting contest

90% of all 5th gen preludes i have seen run at the dragstrip run low-mid 16's... they should be running low-mid 15's... as a matter of fact 5th gen preludes with bolt-ons are the ones running in the 15's...

so, with a good launch and a goor reaction time, you should beat him to the top of the track, even if he does run a slightly faster et...

i havent ran my 240 at the track yet, but my 93 prelude runs 14.5's with a home depot intake, an open header and 555r's...
