I am very interested in these wheels and i was wondering if anyone had GOOD pics of the car and how they fit. I was looking at 16x7 +32 offset and 16x8 +32 offset. All pics appreciated.
thanks aAron

yea, don't worry bro, you can put rims on backwards. You'll be fine.

16x7 +32 all around. You know you want to buy them and you can flip them like that corolla if you'd like.

is that corrola thing legit. the ones on that 240 flyboy jus look way to sunk in. thats my worry i wanted to get em flush and those tires are jus to lo pro. is it safe to drive like the corrola has it
thanks aaron

If you don't have a ton of camber, they aren't sunken in a lot. The tires on there are pretty narrow as well. If you get a nice wide tire, it will look fine.

erg these advans are making me jealous. erg!
The guy got some gay 16x8 +3x's and flipped them...literally...liek took the lips off and flipped the face over and put them back together...then painted the barrel (since it was all gross from being hte inner lip) black
boost infested

The car is for real...... SR powered with flipped rears.... haha..

so you just undo all the bolts that hold the face to the rim itself and flip em around and they bolt right up??

They are three piece, so they have a inner barrel, face, and outer barrel(lip). You seperate them, flip they face around and bolt and seal them up.

sa3 are 2 piece, at least mine are
18x9 +22
I'm not positive, but from the pics I've seen I think they are three.

Plus, I don't know how you could flip two piece like that.
ayuaddict
09-21-2006, 09:06 PM
without cutting and welding it would be impossible.

no its not, I have a set and I took them apart myself and repainted/polished them, they are 2 piece and the face will bolt up, just flip the face around thats all :duh: unless mine are weird for some odd reason...

Umm... so how many pieces are there when you take them apart? Just the inside barrel and the face/lip are one piece?

uhh...i think i can see bolts/rivets/nuts on the wheels of the corrolla that chmercer posted, which would verify that it is in fact a 3 piece wheel. but im not sure, can somebody clarify this?
wow thats fucking gay with the corolla.

i think its fuckin awesome, now i could get a pair of high offset ones for sheaper and that would yield a lower offset when i flip em!

No it wouldn't.
Here are some of the different types of multipiece wheels.
1 piece = self explanatory
2 piece welded = face is welded to the barrel
2 piece bolted = face is bolted to barrel
3 piece = outside barrel + inside barrel + face all bolted together

yeah for sa3as you dont even have to dismount the tire
pop the face out and flip it around
also before everybody gets the bright idea to do this realise that like a somthingx8 +40 it will not yeild a -40 wheel, it will be more like a negative half inch back space, which is like -110 offset
ayuaddict
09-22-2006, 11:42 PM
of course, a lower initial offset will yeild a more realistic "flipped face" offset.
motegineon
09-23-2006, 12:23 AM
so im assuming this would work with any multi-piece non welded wheel then?

One other thing about that carolla ...that is not healthy for wheel bearings. A few thisway and that is fine but going something like 2+ inches, just not good.
Editing for clarification...I'm not talking about wheel width, instead the wheel offset you want to keep similar percentages front and back of the mounting surface...if you have a 4 inch wide wheel with a zero offset and step up to a twelve inch wheel it is greatly recommended to be as close to zero offset as possible still

^ well it does actually increase wear on the wheel bearing. It places the force father away from the hub, making a pressure point unlike before with a perfect offset wheel where the hub is directly or close to center it distrubutes it evenly, know one will ever notice a change, but in physics, theoreticly it does place more force on the top of the bearing hub structure... anyways, stop ranting back and forth.

no. wrong. wrong. WRONG. super low offset is less stress on wheel bearings. i have said this so many fucking times. and people keep getting it wrong because they are using "that looks about right" physics.
Imagine a positive 50 offset, the center of the contact patch is actually further inward than the mounting point. On a car with perfect 25/25/25/25 weight distribution and a weight of 16000N, this would create a moment of 4000N*.050m = 200 N/m clockwise at the hub of a left wheel when looking from the front of the car to the back. That is the moment on the hub/bearing.
Now figure the car is accelerating at 1g laterally to the right. Assume the inside (right) wheels of the car are ever so slightly off the ground (which is possible at 1g in a car that is not lowered). Now the moment is equal to 200 N/m + 8000N(half the weight of the car on each left wheel accelerated at 1g)*.3m(the radius of the tire) = 2600 N/m. That's the moment that the hub/bearing see at full load in a turn.
Now if we figured in a 0 offset, we would have a moment of 0 N/m at rest, and a moment of 2400 N/m in a 1g turn with the entire load on the outside wheels. Lower.
With a -50mm offset, the moment at rest is now -200 N/m according to how we defined the positive moment. Since a bearing is symmetrical, it doesn't care which direction the moment occurs, so this -200 N/m moment is no more stressful than the +200 N/m moment. And, when in that same turn, the moment has been reduced to -200 N/m + 2400 N/m = 2200 N/m. Even lower.
ok, so now i have the right to scream SHUT THE FUCK UP YOU RETARD with absolutley no explination every time somone says low offset wheels are bad for wheel bearings
Either way, who fucking cares?! When's the last time you had a wheel bearing go out Mercer?
When's the last time any of us had a wheel bearing go out? And if it did, was that wheel bearing 12+ years old? Exactly.
Wheel bearings are fucking strong...

never. nissan wheel bearings go out like never. its a stupid point to bring up. i agree with you. i just figured that people dont listen to me when i tell them to shut the up, which would be the smart thing to do. maybe if i post some physics that most people dont understand anyway, they will have a harder time arguing.
