Anyone know how the stock tips come off? I searched and didn't find anything... I'm hoping it's something I can do without taking off the bumper or the exhaust. It's gonna be a bit before I can get my exhaust done, and it's sunk now (aero). I want to get them off and put a pair of longer, bigger tips on for the time being. Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
Bryan

Truer words have never been spoken...
However, I need to keep the actual tips that are welded to the muffler to put the new tips on. I just want to remove the "double walled" cosmetic tips...

I've done it before. Put cardboard box around the tips to protect the rear bumper and use the pulling tool/slide hammer. It's the one that every body shops has. Chunk of metal slide in the middle and there's a hook at the end. Just drop by any body shop and they should be able to do it with no problem. Nissan sells cosmetic tips only. It means you should be able to remove old ones to replace them. BTW, use PB Blaster. That helps...
Tool looks something like this...

So they just pull off? No small bolt hiding anywhere or anything like that? Just pressure fit... hmmm... Ok. I've got a dent puller I can use.

Yea, im pretty sure its just held on by pressure. On my old 91 you just had to pull one of the slightly and it would come off, the other seemed more sturdy.

Awesome... I'll try tugging on 'em and see what happens.

Ended up picking up a OEM exhaust for $5 and welding tips & extenders for the flush look.
The stock tips require some work to pull off. Ended up plasma cutting the tips off in the end..

HAHA!
:fawkd:
No, it's still stock exhaust with stock double walled tips, they're just sunken in under the aero. That's why I wanna fix it, it looks like donkey dick...

damn more sunk than I had imagined, if the above doesnt work ( pulling) go plasma or cut off wheel.

Yeah, I'm hoping I can pull them off. They looked fine when I was stock body, but the aero kinda changes things... ;)

1) drill hole in each tip
2) tie rope, or high-test fishing line to tip, via hole
3) tie opposing end of rope to stationary object (tree, house, rosanne....)
4) gas it.
money. works everytime.

That is what I have on mine as well.
I, however, preferred to have mine just inside of my (stock) rear bumper, not to poke out or anything. I was aiming for a stock-looking 3" custom setup and that was precisely what I came up with.

I agree. One of the tips on mine actually fell off. Haha. But i still have the other one. The tip looks nasty without the cover yo.
