Ive been thinking of an idea for a long time and everyone here has thought of everything but ill get to the point.
Having a strong ka for a while but not really sure about the turbo route, including considering sr ca rb kat all that stuff so i read about the 1js,
has anyone done a non turbo 7mge? im guessing youll all say its more work than its worth but anyone want to give me reasons for doing it or not?
for people that throw them away why not do something with it...
thanks

to answer your question. NO i havent thought about that. why would u bother spending the time and $ that it would cost to swap a toyota engine and do all that custom stuff and NOT bother swapping a turbo in. if u wanna go NA just put a LS1 in. same price in terms of custom work. (lots of wiring, driveshaft, downpipe, mounts, other piping) and more benefits.

Get the engine and sell it...thats the best you can do about it. How much power does a NA 7M makes again? 190hp and its heavier. Yah not that much more than a damn KA!!! So fuckit, its not worth it...

I'd have three letters for this swap.

Just when I thought motorswaps couldn't get worse than the RB20. You hit me in the face with this mess.

I have two mkIII supras
7M's have a lot of potential, but are prone to bottom end and head gasket failure. The are also an iron block inline six, not exactly light. Personally I think it would be a very bad idea to swap one (esp an NA) into an S-chassis.

if you wanna put a toyota motor in an S chassis put a 2jz or 1jz TURBO, as for the 7M, sell that shit for whatever u can get for it if u gonna get for free

Yeah 7M's suck ass I have 2 "non turbo 7mgte's" in my garage that I am dying to give away. You would be better off financially going with a 1J or LS1 (in terms of better bang for the buck and somewhat originalty)

Biggest waste of time IMO.

Seriously, for the amount of time & money spent on fabrication, the cheap as free motor would cost as much as a cheapo DIY KA-T kit.

you guys bitch and moan when someone comes up with an off teh wall swap in a s13.. next you guys will prolly tell him to drop his car super low or dont even post on zilvia...

I recall 7m swap has been done.. but you would only benefit mostly if its turbo.. maybe NA w/ITB setup would be decent if you can pair it up with a nice header.

Bah - so not true!
If it were an engine swap that had more benefits than drawbacks, mroe people would be enthused.
Instead, it's like wanting to drop in a VG30E in place of KA - sure, a little more power and TQ, but it's an OLD engine with VERY little aftermarket support, and the net power gain is inconsequential when compared to the added weight of the swap.

My point is that if he just does a budget DIY KAT setup, not only he come out ahead monetarily, he'll have more power and TQ at the cost of relatively little extra weight (not to mention having more aftermarket support).

If I were going to swap in ANY NA motor, it'd probably be a chevy 350 of some kind. LS/LT motors are good.
