I actually agree with him, I USED to try and bitch about NASCAR on Speed, until I stopped and thought about it.
NASCAR fans buy shit, they buy a whole BUNCHA shit, they buy a whole buncha superfluous shit. They buy shit related to motorsport, Speed is a channel playing up to motorsports fans.
Television stations make money on advertiosing, and nothing else, otherwise they would COST themselves money. Build yourself a viewership that is already buying shit unadvertised, glue them to their televisions with race footage and behind-the-scenes bullshit and when your ratings go through the roof, the advertisers will be FIGHTING one another to buy up that 30 seconds of time between show segments to sell these people shit.
It's business, I haven't gone too fuckin far to see that.

He's correct, and the fact of the matter is that NASCAR manages to appeal to people who don't care about motorsports, only the strategy and the personalities of the drivers and their teams. That's why it's so popular and that's why it will continue to be so popular. It's like a soap opera with small-blocks.

There needs to be more motorcycle racing. Some of Tuesday just doesn't cut it...

haha,.. yah i cant stand to watch speed anymore becuase its soo nascar.. but i know some of the old ladys at my work love nascar, i think tho becuase they watch it with thier husbands. and gotta admit, once you become a nascar racer, you are like celebrity status.
