A low gloss would be pretty cool but full flat is to much for my tastes.

New fad. They sell the new Kawasaki Ninjas with an option for this paint, looks badass. But yeah, not going to be popular at all.

I would just rather "roll" my car and not polish it. Hell, I forgot about the rattle can. The only incentive I see with this is the low maintenance. Just a lame fad, only look right on a rat rod. Oh yeah, bass boat FTW.

What the hell, this style has been around for awhile. I used to call it rattlecan.

Haha. Yeah BREAKINDRIFTS... These guys are just rattlecan noobs...lol..J/k..dont get all offended
I'm not sure i'd call it a "new fad" though. My friends and i have been rattlecaning cars for the past 6 years. Everything from civics, to rollas, to clasic stangs....they all looked badass imo. The best part is, the last vehicle i rattlecaned has only been washed ONCE in the past year...and still looks sick.(mud, dirt, dust, and all)

If you're going to pay someone to paint your vehicle, why not go gloss? Matte finishes are very easy to accomplish with rattlecan's. The only tough part is the roof, because typically rattlecan's aren't made to spray straight down. A little light sanding and multiple coats and you can make it look decent. I don't forsee it being a long running fad but then again Britney Spears still makes the news. What do I know?

So you say if my paint continues to oxidize I can pass it off as a fad? COOL!

Hahah these days? That's been popular for decades. Rat Rodder's have always left their cars paint to die, it's part of the mantra I believe. They simply do not take care of the paint, they let the bodies rust and it becomes part of the car. I love it. It's like shitting on the Mona Lisa, letting a 1934 Ford rust to death yet still drive it around.
Oh and pics of the car your building, or ban. Seriously.

the finish makes the whole body look like its made of plastic. i'd rather have a glossy finish

i remember seeing some classic cars having this type of paint a few years back (3+ years ago) but with more vibrant colors like a really bright sky blue. regular colors dont look good IMO, but bright colors, yes.

her are some pics, we are still deciding how we are gonna reinforce the frame. but here is what we have
this is how we got the car

mock up of how we want it to look
http://i85.photobucket.com/albums/k79/nismothecat/IMG_0863.jpg
and with the front suspension and motor we have for it

the motor is a 300hp small block chevy, the only problem is finding time to work on it.
