Yup, but it won't prevent theft, I have it also and all my shit got ganked.

**Edit**Get an after market Alpine or Viper alarm if you want it to do any good...there are others also but I'm too tired to list.

I just have a question. Why do you ask? Are you having a problem with it?

My Canadian 98 SE does not have a factory alarm. I believe it was an option. I installed an aftermarket alarm though...

US model SE's had it (Canadian SE = US base model).

And it sucks - leading to my stereo getting ganked along w/ killing my batter and having the side of my car keyed from someone who was likely pissed that it was on the fritz.

I think it was an option, my 97 se, did not come with keyless entry/alarm.

I woulda swore it was std. on my car... Took a look at the FAQ... it was an option on 96-98 SE models. It was part of SE trim on 95's (along w/ POWER antenna, and driver's side LUMBAR support).

I have said it before, 97 and 98 were the dark days when Nissan was really trying to cut cost. I wouldn't be surprised if they removed them from the standard equipment list. After all when was the last time you saw a 97 98 with a power antena?

Edit:
Lumbar support? Lumbar support! Don't get me started on the lumbar support.

That is nothing my friend can open the hatch on his CRX climb in and get in the drivers seat with out setting off the alarm. In fact it only goes off when he exits the drivers door and slames it??? That is the worst alarm I have ever seen, not sure if it is factory though.

Hehe, mine basicly only sets off when i either try opening the door (like if the window is open and i try opening it from the inside) or if i start knocking on the tires reaaaally hard. But other than that, you can lean on the car, sit on the hood or even climb up and it'll be silent as if there is no alarm at all

i have a 96 se and it doesnt have the alarm from the factory
i dont have the factory alarm nor do i have the light next to the hazards
as for everyone else - most aftermarket (maybe even factory) alarms have a sensitivity adjustment - or you could always mount it to somthing more ridgid
i saw a car that the alarm would go off if it rained too hard, and it wasnt even on the most sensitive setting

And just to try and kill this false info, the CDN SE is NOT the US base model. We had the full base/SE/LE range up here too.

Uh, yeah, it is (at least for the Zenki). In the US we began w/ base and SE (zenki years) and added an LE model (kouki years). Every Canadian on this board has confused the issue: "my SE has 4-lug/black-face gauges/no rear sway/no spoiler/etc." Every time! As a result, we did a little sales brochure comparison (only for the Zenki, not the kouki). There are a few differences, but basically, the US SE = Can LE; US base = Can. SE. God only knows what you people got for a "base model."

Ah, Zenki only. OK, I might buy that. My CDN 98 SE has 16" 5-lug alloys, white-face gauges, rear swaybar, spoiler, sideskirts, etc. Sound like a US SE to me... so now we can say the 97/98 is not included in your generalization, correct?

And while I'm at it, not every CDN 240 has LSD!

I would recommend Crime Guard 745i if you want a system that is resonable price ($200) and lots of features. If you want to go all out you can check out the Clifford Avantguard 4.
