Alright guys,
I need some help. I have a 93 240sx hatch with a s13 blacktop swap. I was wondering how I can test the pins on the consult port to make sure that I am getting a signal. What pins should I touch and what should the voltage read? The reason being is that I bought a usb to consult port cable and I can't get it to work. I am a IT guys so I would say that I am very resourcful when working with computers. I found who they get their cables from and a developers kit for the cables. When I do an install, I can see data generated for the cable in the deveopers kit. I am not rulling out the cable all together, but I want to make sure that my port works. Appreciate the help guys.

Check your ECU wiring where the ECU plug meets the body harness. The CONSULT port may not be hooked up.

I took a look and all of the wires are connected. I called the guy that I did the install and he said that he used the sr dash harness so he didn't cut anything. The most he did is added some wires. I also tested the voltage between the ignition and ground. I didn't get a signal until I turned the key to on. That much tells me that those two wires are working. How can I check the other pins voltages and what are their correct voltages. I did look through though the manual and couldn't find voltages for them and which pins to touch at the time of testing.

whoa why would he use the sr dash harness?

Green, green/white, and green/black are the CONSULT port wires, TX, RX, and CLK as defined in the FSM.

99% of people who install SRs/RBs do not bother connecting the port.

yea thats what im wondering. youre supposed to cut the KA connector and swap it onto the SR harness.

To be sure just cut the plug from the drivers side and solder it back in right by the ECU. Most swaps do not include the consult port wiring since they are never used. Trust me, its much easier then tracing the wires to see if they are working or not.

I posted a consult port wiring diagram @ www.240sxforums.com in the D.I.Y section, it will be the same for blacktop. ;)
like prev. stated most people dont use it, but I work @ nissan so I have constant access to consult. absolutey love the data monitor!:rawk:
