Well, after searching and reading through the results, I'm still not sure, so any help would be appreciated. Here's the situation.

I bought the car and the windows didn't work. No big deal. I search around and learn that the amplifier is a common problem, so I buy one used on eBay. While I'm waiting for shipment to arrive, I pull the panels and discover the previous owner pulled the window motors. Those might be helpful. So, I bought some window motors from some guy on here. I installed them. Driver's side - great. Passenger side - ehh, worked off and on.

The passenger side has become the main problem now. It started out working most of the time, then somtimes, then rarely, now not at all. When I get the window up, it will roll down no problem. It has a problem with "up" though. I swapped out the amplifier with the eBayed one I got and both windows worked great for about two minutes. Just as I was about to shut the car off and call it a day, the passenger side stopped rolling up again.

So, now that I've replaced the window motor AND the amplifier, I'm kind of at a loss. First of all, is there anything else it could be? If not, it would seem that one of the parts I bought as a replacement is bad. Any idea which one for sure?

Thanks.

You're a little confused about something here. The window amplifier in the driver's door runs the driver side window ONLY, not the passenger side. The passenger side amp is built in to the main switch (driver side). More than likely, it's the switch that's the problem.

Ah. I thought the amp controlled them both. I guess I'll check on a switch replacement then. Thanks for the help. :)

Well, unfortunately it's not the switch on the driver's side. $220 later from Courtesy Nissan and I installed a brand new switch. Still the same problem though. The passenger window won't budge. I'm thinking the motor I bought for the passenger side is bad. Anyone know if there's anything else it could be?

Thanks.

Does it have a regulator? Every window I've seen, power or manual, when the window goes down and not up its always the regulator.

Well, yes it has a regulator, but the regulator is just a mechanical piece that moves like a scissor lift. The window motor is what spins around to make the regulator move the window up and down, unless I'm mistaken. I can't see why the regulator would affect anything unless it was like physically stuck or something, in which case I would think it wouldn't move at all, or I'd hear the window motor trying to spin and move it. I could be wrong though; I'm just speculating.

In addition, my seat motor went bad on my 300zx and it would move back, just not forward. I replaced the motor and all was good, which would lead me to believe it is possible for the motor to be broken for one direction but not the other.

I'll check the regulator after work and see if I notice any restrictions or why it shouldn't be working. There's a window motor on eBay for like $80, but I'd rather be positive that it is the motor after dropping $220 on a new switch today.

Got to be the motor. Take it out and test both sides of it, from both switches.

Well, for anyone who may search this in the future, it ended up being the passenger side switch. I didn't think the passenger side switch would affect my ability to roll the window up from the driver's side, but apparently it does.
