im going to build up a ca18det for my s13, better say i already begun to build up, and get unsure with some questions
1)
i bought a s15 turbo (should be a gt28r), but a ballbearing turbo need
a oil- reducer,right?
i heard that a s15 turbo has already one in the turbo so i didn`t need one??????
2)
also bought a set of tomei cams (procam solid lift 270°) with adj. cam gears,
new valve guides, new hydr.lifters,
want set rev. limiter at 7500rpm`s
need i "hi lift valve springs" too?? or even solid lifters??
3)
whats the max boost that a s15 turbo can safty hold??
some say 1 bar others 1,2bar ??????
4)
want run 1 maybe 1,2 bar with forged parts,
and has already spark plugs grade7
are these cold enough or swith to colder one??
5)
build up this ca18det 2 years ago with stock parts,
also a new oil pump,
got a extreme high oil pressure,
with cold oil 6-7bar at 1000rpm
with a oil temp. of 70°c 2-3 bar at iddle amd at 2000+ rpms full 6-7 bar
get no higher oil temp as 90°c (hot summerday uphill)
normaly around 50-60°c, run full synt. 10w60 castrol
checked the bleed valve on the oil pump looks fine
oh and yes i checked the gauges!
has anyone ever got a problem like these?, whats your oil pressure and temp?
thanks for your help

ok to cover some stuff...
On the camshafts tomei will give a listing about what is required to run them. With a 270 pro cam you will need high lift valve springs. You will also probably want to see if they require solid lifters. Speak to a tomei rep about what is required for the install. They will tell you and it's probably also writen down on the cam cards.
Spark plugs are different heat ranges so a "grade 7" without a part number is useless. NGK 7 should be fine.
The oil pressure issue isn't really a problem. More than likely your problem is in the oil. 10w60 to thick. Try 5w30 and see if it's fixes your problem. Though to much oil pressure rarely hurts you.

The S15 oil restrictor is in the the fitting of the hard line to the block on the s15. If you did not get the oil lines w/the turbo, you will need to buy an aftermarket restrictor.
High oil pressure is being caused by the oil, or blockages in the passages. Try running the motor w/ no turbo (do bolt the manifold on.), with a maybe 1/2pint of Automatic trans fluid added to the the oil, or completely fill with diesel. Do this and let the engine idle for about 20 mins, then flush. It will clean any blockages out of the system, but i wouldnt want to run the turbo on this.
High oil pressure, will kill a ball bearing turbo, hence the restrictor to save it. I would not want to chance it.
Safe boost vs heat range recomendations are very circumstantial. There is a myriad of other factors involved. Like Wolf mentioned, NGKR Iridiums grade 7 Should be pretty good, I would suggest 8's if available. This is only in NGKr Land. But, depending on which fuel control settup you have, these advantages can be negated, such in the case of the AFC, where it will change the timing for the worse when attempting a fuel correction.
So. Grade of fuel (octane rating). Intercooler and type? Injector size, Fuel and timing control?
i did a quick search online for a S15 Compressor Map, but didnt come up with much, anyone have one? Link it, post it, can tell you what the S15 Turbo is good up to right then and there. (i'll ask steve, he might have it indexed away somewhere).

The tomei 270's have 10.5mm of lift and require solid lifters and upgraded valve springs and retainers. As for the restrictor in the turbo, the S15 oem and gt28r share the same chra so I would imagine both have the restrictor built into them. Oh, and that turbo is too small for those cams. The turbo won't flow enough to utilize them. A guy on the NICO board bought some HKS 272's and he went from 289whp down to 260ish and his lag was noticeably increased.

first thanks for your answers,
lets start with the cams, i know of two types of procams (tomei)
first, the one ive got, the SOLID LIFT, nearly stock lift 8.80mm lift i think
second, the HIGH LIFT with10.50 mm lift
thats the reason why i`m unsure with the valve springs, because the lift "just" 0.3mm more than stock and i wont rev above 7500rpm
(if i mention right stock>8.50mm lift, sloid type>8.80mm lift)
the valve springs from tomei are for hi- lift cams (10.50mm lift)
cam cards, hmm....?
i bought these cams on ebay
(i know most people will start now running screaming through their houses, but for me in europe its the easiest and fastest way to get this parts, there absolute no dealer for this stuff around me, and i very bad at japanese)
so..... i bought the cams from ebay, the come with paper with tons of japanese written stuff on it that i never could read NO english, cant get no single hint with these papers
and on tomei off. website ........ hmmmm..... tons of japanese written stuff too.......damn
oh...... by the way, there absolute NO tomei rep. around here... sorry this willl not work
oh.... the spark plugs are NGK 7
( ithoght these numbers where normed)
so i NEED a reducer in my oil-line, thanks for that info
running a 5w30 ........ isn it a bit thin for a turbo engine?(i think 10w40 is the standard oil for ca18det`s?) if you think its the oil what do you think of using mobile 5w50 over a 10w60 castrol? i think i give it a try, thanks
thats what ive "try" to build up...... or blow up???
crankshaft and flywheel was lightned and ballanced (-4kg)
toda main and rod bearings
forged con-rods (dont ask me what brand... come from australia)
forged pistons (arias)
multic layer hg with arp head studs
tomei 270 solid cams
oil cooler
big fmic kit (ssac)
z32 afm ..................still need this item
534cc sard injectors
255 walboro fuel pump.........still needed
power fc ..........................want the boost control kit too
koyo radiator, adjustable electrical fan
cold thermostat
header +3 inch freeflow (ssac)
exhaust temp gauge
wideband a/f gauge
ohh hold out!!............................................. don`t forged my swirl pot, i`m kind of pride for this item
that should be the parts that importend for the engine biuld (blow) up
want run 1bar maybe above and 7500rpm
so will be NGK7 allright, is a s15 turbo realy to small?? (hey i like low-lag and response and was running a stock t25 before.....so a s15turbo is still a BIG improvement for me)
ive you think some parts will not run well together let, me know
like i said...... first timer
thanks
