I'm trying to put polyurethane bushings into rear control arms.
Today I boiled them in water and came very close to pushing in.
A friend of mine suggested me to hex saw them in half and put them in.
Spliting a polyurethane bushing into half (not along the length but along the diameter) and then pushing it into the control arm is his method. He said since the bushings are thick, they won't move inside the control arm even in two pieces.
Has anyone tried this method?

I've seen MR2 bushings and they are 2 pieces and you put them in on each side and then insert the metal sleeve. I just used a table vise and had at it. I'll go in.

Thanks a lot! That's something I wanted to hear.
No access to table vise. Life sucks without table vice.

Lube alone wont get them in.
I just pressed my poly rear upright bushings in with a press and even that was a bitch. Just gotta get them in half-way then use a screwdriver to get the other have pressed in. After you get that other half pressed in its cake. Just hit it with a hammer till it pops through the other side or use a neighbors table vice or something.
I would not suggest splitting them in half.

Cutting them in half is fine, Whiteline bushings come that way, as do a few others. Just make sure it's a clean, flush cut.

also make sure your inserting them the correct way. Sometimes one side will have a more rounded edge.

also, I find a min in the microwave works better then boiling.
Can use C clamp with 2 pieces of wood or put bolt through 2 pieces of wood to squeeze bushing in.
