i recently bought a used s14 kaaz 2way and put it in my s13. along with changing the diff, i also swapped out my hicas subframe to a non hicas with polyurethane bushings in the control arms, lower subframe bushings, and used an open diff case. now here's the problem.

when i hit the throttle there's a clunking, not chatter though. then when i completely release the throttle there's another clunking. this is all going straight too. also, shifting between gears the same noise happens. my best assumption is that the noise is torque based. the noise only lasts for like a second. any help would be great. if it's normal for this to happen then cool. i just want to know. thanks

all lsd's have noise... the newer they are the louder... after the " break in " the noise does quiet down but you will have the clunking as long as you have the lsd in there..

if you don't want clunking get welded diffs...

Check to see if your wheels spin freely by hand.

Most likely subframe related rather than diff related. Check to see if you tightened everything down correctly (4 subframe bolts, differential bolts, axle bolts, suspension bolts) and maybe get some subframe spacers while you are at it if you don't have some already.

My cusco MZ 2 way lsd starts klattering at even the slightest steering input. I also have subframe spacers which transmit a lot more noise to the chassis.
