Is it true that a 2way clutch type lsd is too harsh to be used on a daily driver and it's real noisy when compared to a 1.5way? Does it last as long as a 1.5way clutch type lsd?

Depends on what you can handle.
If you don't want to be rememded that you have a 2way everytime you make a slow turn, then it might not be for you.

1.5 and 2 way are going to act the same most of the time. Just keep fresh quality oil in it and you will be fine.

If your main concern in choosing an lsd is harshness then perhaps you don't need one. What are you going to be doing with the car?

i daily drive kaaz 2 way, it's bearable...
depends on what you can handle as ppl mentioned...
if you have dynamat and enjoy lexus decibel levels in the interior, don't get it...
as far as how long it'll last, if you just daily drive it, i'm willing to bet it'll last longer than you'll own the car as long as it gets oil changes during recommended intervals (more if you track it)

He's going to drag race the car *ugh*.
Since there isn't going to be any TURNING involved, why not just rock a welded for cheap?

I think the diff is the least of my "harsh" worries for driving everyday.
I like the 2 way and prefer it. I like when my car sounds like it is going to break.

Or a HLSD. The ones OBX sells on ebay for like $350.

Thanks for all the feedback on the 2way! I just wanted to know because I like dragging but I also like doing some spirited driving without worrying about taking a quick turn or something breaking while I'm on the backroad hills of Saipan. As for the obx helical, I have a 91' with a stock open diff and their ad doesn't say if it's for s13 w/lsd or w/out lsd.

Find OBX's site and give them a call... I'm sure they can tell you.

OBX LSD are sort of a hybrid copy of qualife inside with kaaz housing (can someone open theirs up and confirm, not sure how). My friend is the one that actually picked this out as they couldnt full copy a quaife nor a kaaz, so they just mix matched it until they can, and apparently it works.

Welded for the dragstrip, S15 Helical for the rest. Swap as needed.

OBX helicals are good for drag, auto-X, and everything EXCEPT dorifto.
