hey,
so i just got finished installing my fidanza flywheel and f1 racing stage 3 clutch. i will be posting a review on the install and flywheel/clutch combo in a couple days. the problem i am having is associated with the starter. everytime i crank the engine it sounds different but still healthy. it's when the engine finally starts up i get this quick shreeking sound as the starter either tries to keep up with the engine or disengages. my starter never made that noise in the past. is the ring gear on the fidanza different? or did i possibly reinstall the starter incorrectly? anyone else with a fidanza on a sr20 want to chime in? thanks

i had the same problem when i installed my fidanza/f1 racing stage 3 clutch on my 93 240sx coupe.....i ended up changing the starter and that solved my
problem so that try that..that should fix it......quick question caall99, did you use the throw-out bearing that came with the clutch or did you have to use a
oem one?

hey thanks for the quick response,
my starter was fine before, so i would rather not change it. did u change yours due to it failing? or to get rid of the noise?
i used an OEM TOB and pilot bearing along with the rear main seal. i didn't want to skimp on anything and have it bite me in the ass later. i guess aftermarket TOBs just aren't as good as OEM, or atleast thats what i hear.
another quick question for you: how long have u been driving on the F1 Racing Clutch? how did it feel once it broke in? i only have 10 miles on mine and the engagement feel is already changing, and i definitely like it! :)

oh well my starter wasnt fine before i had the clutch and when i installed my clutch it got worst like noises that you are having so i did change my starter due to it failing and the noise did go away after 1hr of driving it......
i too used the oem TOB and ur right aftermarket TOB arent as good as oem tob....i learned that the hard way by installing the aftermarket tob and made the biggest screaching noise ever...so i had take the tranny out again and replaced it wit a oem tob and the noise went away..wut a pain in the ass that was:bash:
ive had my new clutch for about 2 1/2 months already and pulls great..i def felt a difference as soon as i installed it....i love it!!!:)

good to hear that you are liking the clutch! i am hearing mixed opinions about the noise being normal with the flywheel. i guess alot of people are experiencing it. i'll wait it out i guess...
i have also read that the proper way to break in a pucked clutch is to rev the engine to 2500 and let the clutch slip and let it cool down and then repeat. how did u break it in?

i heard of that way before...i just drove mine pretty normal, i mean at times i would launch it at a light at 2500-3000rpm so i guess thats how i broke it in..i love how my car pulls now...its awesome!!!
