Most of the higher priced kits use -10AN and most people I know that track their cars use -10AN. I don't see why -8AN wouldn't work though. Setrab coolers are great and www.splparts.com sells them.

I would use -8AN because anything larger you will have MAJOR problem running the lines. Trust me, I have the greddy cooler and the lines barely fit. Secondly you will need to run the lines between the engine mount so -8AN is best..... When I say betwee, it basically means go through the engine mount itself.

O btw setrab are oil coolers that are OEM on ferrari`s and porsches...

What are you talking about with "going between" the engine mount? That doesn't make sense. Do you have pictures of what you are talking about?

-8AN and I was also reading about a transadapter? Do any of you all know what that is. I hope its not a part of the relocator kit.

I know what he's talking about, and take his word for it, you'd be hard pressed to squeeze a -10AN line thruogh there

Hes on that crappy greddy sandwich that has the lines come out parralell with the block, yeah, fuck that noise.

ball outta control redneck spec Run 1/2in barb fittings on a non thermostated base plate and get that retarded kit that turns side mounts to oilcoolers or whatever.

I'm prolly gonna run

Tomei Base Plate
-10AN Prolite with crimped on ends
-Earls Oilfilter stand + Thermostat
-Setrab Core in fairly hefty size

I've been through too many motors/hate climbing under my car too much to dick around with shit denso cores and crappy filter bases.

just run a 1/2 barb and you'll be fine.. sandwich thermostatic adapter place 180F, little bigger oil filter.. say a 4 row cooler and you're set!! thats what i'm running and no probs.. at all.. look into Hayden.. from the cooler, to the sandwich plate.. low cost not flashy looking and most importantly gets the job done! my .02 cents.. you can get the cooler for 80 bucks, and plate for about 30.. buy lines and some fittings and u're set!

Well the greddy is not parallell to the block because it has 4 fittings on the sandwich plate...... yah secondly, my kit is the GTR kit, so the oil cooler is much bigger than the sr20.... thirdly I got it for 200 bux everything included....
Can you build the cooler kit for 200 bux? Didn't think so....

I already bought a universal kit from Summit, and Im going to get the hoses and all that jazz and run a Setrab or Earls but Im looking at maybe a 13 row or 8 row, over kill. Also I was going to get an inline thermostat.

OR, you could do it up Japanese-style and just buy an FC turbo oilcooler from a junkyard and put some earls fittings on it to run it through your filter relocation kit. Total cost approx. $200...

yes, easily. you can run an oil cooler for 50 bucks, 200 bucks would be running all baller equipment.

OP - run 10an if you can, 8 is ok if thats all you got though.

PS for oil transfer you should consider getting aramid braid hose instead of stainless, pretty much the only thing metal braided hose is needed for is brake lines, i dunno why everyone uses it on everything. aramid braided hose is way lighter and the price is similar.

so whats the deal with the thermostat, hows that work. where do u install it on the oil cooler setup, whats it for.

^stupid questions but i need to start somewhere to figure out what it is for

Flybert
08-15-2006, 03:58 AM
Thermostat can be included in the filter block or you can buy one separately that hooks up to the lines after the filter and after the cooler that way it diverts oil from going to the cooler when temps are low.
