Ever since I had this car, I noticed the hood just slightly lifts up and down, like air is getting under there. I always nmake sure it is closed very tightly. It seems like the latch lets the hood "play" a bit.
Anyone else notice this?
I ask becaseu a freind had his hood fly up, smash his windshield, buckl;e his roof, ruin the hood, and mess up all the latches, etc

I would get the hood checked immediately and keep highway speeds down to a minimum. That is serious sh#t and should be fixed ASAP! One of those small problems that turn big real fast.
BTW i have a '91 FB w/ no hood wiggle

I've heard of other 240SXs having this problem, usually ones that had been hit in the front at some point (mine had)... I Think the rubber stops for the hood, or the latch, need to be adjusted. I haven't gotten around to looking at it on my car yet.

There should be an adjustment for the latch. Also, the front bump stops for the hood can be turned so they sit a little higher. This will put more tension on the latch and help keep the hood from wiggling.

It is most likely not wiggling because air is getting under it, it is more likely that air moving over the hood is sucking it up. You can see this affect if you go around a corner fast enough. Your outside (outside of your turn) window will be sucked out (something that is made possible because our car don't have a frame around the window).

Hasn't goten any worse in the last 4 months
I so think it is just air lift, now that I think about it. It is barely noticable though. You really have to be looking for it. I will try taking out some play tomarrow, on my day off.
Thanks guys,
Jeff

Hey! I am Natty on the `tex (probably don't know me though). Glad to see you came over

I don't think my car was ever hit though. Carfax was clean, and my mechanic didn't find anything...

my hood did that when I first got it, a friend of mine who's an amateur mechanic fixed it in about 20 seconds. Told me never to get things like that checked at a shop, they'll charge you an hour's labor to fix it.

I'll look at it tomorrow on my way to work to see the exact adjustment points

actually, i'm tryin' to figure out a hood pin that works in reverse way. so that nothing apears on the top of the hood...

but i don't have enough time to work on it yet.... sooner or later...

Heh, would the stickon hood pinds make it stop? I hear they add some torque too!
