I have a freind who has removed/disconnected his O2 sensors in his mustang, and has seen a big improvement, i have an 91 240sx se and i have looked in my crapy Chilton manual, and it says nothing about my year so i am wondering if i would benifit from this or kill me. or if my car would even run...

thanx

Really, wait a bit and see. I had a buddy w/ bad O2 sensors on his mustang and it destroyed his cat by overheating it way too much. I think he said it was actually red hot.
Id think that it would be a real bad idea to remove them since the ECY needs that infor to determine the correct air/fuel mixture.
Would try to get an aftermarket ECU if you want to try to optimize the engines performence.

Do not remove the O2 sensor on your N/A car it WILL slowly destroy your engine like said before from the front pipe down your exhaust will get red hot and when you shut off the car you will hear the tink of the exhaust shrinking back from the cool down. then your timing will go, then ECU codes, and finally the shaking engine will drive you mad at a stop light and you will get out of the car and run down the street screaming the shaking won't stop make it stop...........Oh sorry Don't do it.

iirc, o2 sensor helps fuel efficentcy as well everyone wants fuel efficentcy

what the o2 sensor basically does is measures the amount of o2 in the exhaust stream. The ecu reads this and leans out or richens the air fuel mixture by adding or subtracting fuel. By disconnecting it, you will not really gain too much because the ecu really isnt sure how much gas to add (i think it only uses the MAF) and you end up only wasting gas (fuel economy drops) because your taking the unburnt gass and spitting it into the air. So the gains you get are very insignifigant because the ecu really doesnt know whats going on and the damage caused completly negates the power gain.

It seems that everybody is looking for a way to go faster, of gain things by disconnecting something. All these things that go around about it not damaging somthing is completly bullshit. (no offence to anyone) Your are either pushing your car beoynd its limits, or slowly killing it (if your looking for "free mods" im sure you really dont have money to fix the damage done). My advise to you and anyone else looking for the free stuff is to save your money and do it right by buying parts, or even a new car. Either way you will end up spending money and in my book, its better to save and go faster or be in debt and return you car to stock condition.

This is my advise, not only to you but everyone. Its really good that you asked instead of assuming and doing. Always good to learn and understand

Im done preaching now....

Oh yeah - removing the sensor will leave a nice big hole in the header

taking off the o2 sensor will throw ur car into check mode...meaning ur car will be running hella rich...this extra gas could be used 2 make sum hp if u got the normal intake/header./exhaust combo...not a good idea since u'll get like 15 mpg!
