From what I remember, someone posted something like this earlier: The KA, before final production blah blah, was an engine that was 2. something liters. However, before the final release, it was bored out to 2.4 liters and then put into our cars. So in other words, it's pretty much already been bored out to the max, so doing any more boring might get dangerous. Someone also said that you COULD bore it out a little bit with some safety, but the amount of boring (with safety) would be so little that it wouldn't make much of a difference.

wow 230 hp N/A on a sohc ka24e. I'd say you have to get I/H/E, chip it, cams, etc. All the bolt ons you can get. I also remmember something about boring the engine being bad idk, but good luck
why the f*** would you want to anyways?<img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/confused.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt='???'>?<img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/confused.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt='???'>
start with a dohc at least then you 15 xtra hp.

For the record, most built n/a SOHCs are faster than their DOHC counterparts. . .

Well, independant throttle bodys carbs, ballanced crank, 9000 rpms, insane cams.
Basically a non streetable car.

ahhh shinanagans...
You people have no faith in our nissan engine builders. I personally think 230RWHP is defenately acheivable and still be able to drive it on the streets. It might not pass emissions but it will be a streetable.
I say bore it out like a millometer to get all the built up gunk off, get like 11:1 or 11.5:1 compression pistons, 4:2:1 header, high performance cat, reputable exhaust system, CAI, 300zx throttle body, new injectors, a msd ignition system, a new computer, port and polish head, stage two cams, stiffer springs...and that should easily get you to around 230-250rwhp!
I am not saying it will be cheap but defenately doable!

since its an S13, it dosent need a cat, so just run a custom 4 to 4 header out the side of the car or something. It would be insanely loud, but it would be totally free flowing. Not to mention totally illegal, but hey if you want that much N/A power, what do you expect? <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sly.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':sly:'>
i do apologize for showing little faith, what was i thinking?<img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/confused.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt='???'>

That would get you the hp but your idle will be around 1700-2000rpm and the damn thing would barely idle well there. Hp comes w/ a cost. That price is reliability so streetability wouldn't even be a consideration. Start w/ a different platform to build N/A performance. The KA can do it and I have seen it but they have all been race cars.
Cliff's notes:
1. Doable HP
2. Not streetable
3. Not reliable
4. Start w/ different platform (VG30DE)

Just build the bottom end stronger and then get a good NOS kit! 100+hp

The KA24E was more or less just a Z24E with a new 12 valve head. It does have the largest bore of any Z-series so far, at 89mm.
They always build an element of safety into the engines, though, and the cylinder walls are thick enough for some overbore. 1mm should be no problem, resulting in 2442cc versus 2389cc.

I'm pretty sure the 300zx throttle body is smaller than the KA24E's. besides, for the that kind of power he Will need indiv. TB's. Like the mikuni one, or a custom one.

Er.. uh anyways, I've heard a few N/A people talking about boring the KA, its definately possible, but you'd need to do the research on it. You can also get a restroker kit to lower the compression but then you'd have to make sure the piston doesn't come in contact with the valves. Pretty much the same N/A projects for DOHC KAs can be done on the SOHC but easier i think... General ideas off the top of my head (that i've read about people doing) larger valves, larger valve openings, upgraded ignition, exhaust, headers, intake, cams, NOS, ECU, shave head, lighten or knifeedge crank, better crank bearings, better valve retainer & springs, aftermarket piston and connecting rod, (does the stock wrist pin hold?), lightened flywheel and upgraded clutch, carbon fiber driveshaft, port\polish head w/ matching intake manifold, remove parasitic pieces (ie A/C, power steering, etc), er... all this is sooo general, but might be of some help.... I bet the KA could put out 300 N/A (w/o NOS) hp if you had the money and no how....

That's only because no one really cares to build up an N/A DOHC motor. All the top SOHC KA's are NASPORT motors, and guess what, NASPORT limits engines to SOHC.

Ace, shush, they don't need to know that <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':p'>
Anyhow, my point is it's still a capable powerplant, no need to just dump it to get 15 extra HP out of the DOHC.

I guess the reason the sohc has so many NA kit's is beacase the s13 sohcs do very well in motorsports.
