Sup felllow zilvians, I just recieved my wheels they are 17x7 +42 all around. I wanted to know what size tires i should get? I was thinking of 225/45-17 for the fronts, but as for the rear I am not too sure, i want a little more meat in the rear; I was thinking of 245 or 255/40-17, but would that fit? and also I have tein super street dampers.

Thanks for everyone's suggestions.

Run 215's all around. While you're at it pick up some 50mm spacers.

run 205/45 or 215/40 or get some real wheels. 50 mil spacers at the least.

so get some 50mm space and longer studs? what size studs?
Do you know where i can get them for a pretty good price?
Do I really need spacers because they are a bit pricey? what would happen if I don't get it?

Thanks.

Your car will look stupid and there will be clearance issues with your coilovers.

i wouldn't even bother buying tires for those wheels... waste of money imo.

sell them to a FF guy and buy a set with better sizing.

arent stock se wheels something like +35 offset?

Im sure that the extra 7mm (about 1/2 my pinky finger) would affect coilover fitment.

Here's the tire size you should run:

000/00/00

Instead of buying tires, sell your wheels. Run on stockers.

Eat ramen for a month (or hot pockets like me). Then get something the proper size that can fit real rubber, clear coilovers, and clear brakes. Something that isn't higher offset than stock might help.

wut option sed...ff spec wheels are worse than stockers.

and besides, you really want spacers in there that are larger than a bigmac? thats low rider 13" pizza cutter on a cadillac deville style.

Whoa, with sizes like that the back sides of your wheels might actually touch each other!

Shoulda done some research to make sure they would fit, but you should be able to sell them pretty quick if you don't get spacers.

First off stock rims are 16x6 +40

With 17x7 +42 rims
Clearance on the inside of the rim (the portion of the rim we don't see) is 15mm less than stock The position of the rim is going to be extended 11mm closer to the fender.

Second, unless you want to run over fenders or roll and pull the fenders forget about the need for 50mm spacers. Test fit the rims on the car and then figure out what needs to be done. (IE. Roll the fenders, buy spacers, etc) Oh...yeah...if you were to buy the suggested 50mm spacers the spacers would make the rim off set as if it were -8 which would give you 35mm of clearance on the inside of the rim and also extend the rim 61mm further outward than the stock rims. You may need spacers end the end so keep that in mind.

Third the size tire you use will depend on what you want, need, or like. Test fit with used tires before you put money into buying new tires.

you don't need to test shit

It actually looks fine, and so far no clearance issues.

what kind of rims are they

They are Enkei PKR.

as if now they fit fine, and eventually i'll get spacers, sell the ff wheels, and get 00/00/00 tires, but in the mean time it's a learning process for me so flame on as usual, and thanks for all the comments.

I'm not sure which is more idiotic, thinking that 17x7 +42 "looks fine" or thinking that a 255 will fit on it.

if it's a learning process you need to learn how to fuckin learn: search and read all the wheel threads we've beaten to death here

google for "wheel offset" and learn about wheel sizing

google your tire manufacturer and see what size wheel they recommend for a specific tire size

google how to kill urself and get to work

oh yeah, here:

Fugly. Nice rivets

For similar money u could get some used FN's in better sizes

After reading through this thread I can't believe people are this goddamn stupid.

First off I ran a 7" wide rim with +26 offset and at full counter the shit was rubbing against the brakeline bracket, cut a nice slice in the tire. So if I were you I'd carry a spare at all times.

Second, how the fuck can you even THINK of running such a wide tire on a skinny ass rim. Its gonna look like a fucking offroad jeep wrangler and handle even worse. Take one turn and the whole tire is gonna fold under the sidewall.

Third you'd seriously need a 40mm spacer on those things. Which is not only dangerous cause you won't have enough threads to hold your shitty rim on but its just stupid anyways.

Finally get pics...I'd love to see what "looks fine" means to someone like yourself.

THEY FIT FINE LOL I ALMOST FELL OUT OF MY CHAIR HEARING THAT SHIT. HOW COULD THEY FIT FINE YOU SAID YOU HAD COILOVERS EVRYONE KNOWS THAT A +42 OFFSET WILL NOT CLEAR THEM YOUR SMOKING SOME GOOD SHIT

I think he ment they fit fine when he test fitted them on his car.

He was obviously looking at his car from the side, not the front or the rear.

Dude, you need to search HARD, before you buy anything and try to ask questions about it on Zilvia. The widest tire you should be going on those wack wheels is a 215/40/17.

You SHOULD sell them though, and get some wheels with an offset lower than 20.

FYI, NO one likes high offsets here.

Ask questions when you get some real parts for your car.

If you are lowered on 17's with +42, that shit is never gonna clear a coilover. Forget even turning in the front, especially with the retarded tire sizes this guy wants to run.

Uhh yeah, I know max high offset with coils is a 35 offset on almost any wheel, with coils.

BUT if he's that cheap he's buying over produced FF offset sized wheels, I doubt he has money for coilovers, or that his car is even lowered. Calm down. When I said TEST FITTED I meant he looked at them, and thought they LOOKED cool.

Sorry stupid people like this guy piss me off. :hammer:

When you said "test-fitted" I thought you meant he closed his eyes and imagined them flush on his car. :fruit:
