Okay my speedo hasnt worked in about a month...today i finally got under the car to check all the sensors...and, low and behold, the speed sensor is missing, Which leaves a big ass hole....that looks alot like this..

soooo..my question is...is that an actual Gear syncro i see there?
Pretty sure it is but making sure never hurt anyone...
Now..more importantly...if thats an actual syncro, than that means all my tranny fluid leaked the hell out of there pretty quick..or did it?

Cliffnotes: Does not having a speed sensor in your transmission allow the gear oil to leak out? And if it does can i drive it at all to get it fixed...
bonus question...how much does a speed sensor usually cost?
Thanks in advance.

yes the tranny fluid would have leaked out of there pretty quickly. i forgot exactly where on the tranny, height wise compared to the filler-plug it is, but a good deal of fluid is probly m issing considering the fluid will shift when you stop, go, and turn.

not good.

dont drive your car till you get a new speed sensor. or plug that hole up and fill it up with tranny fluid back to the mark if its absolutely neccessary to drive your car. that cant be good for your synchros..geez makes me cringe just thinking about it. check the drain plug on the tranny and see if tehres much metal shavings.

yeah thats not a good thing at all...i took my speed sensor out to check it because my speedometer wasnt working either and holy fluid leak! that stuff came rushing out like i took the drain plug out
