View Full Version : What seats sit low?

OK guys, please don't flame me if this is stupid question. I'm looking into buying a new seat, and I was pretty set on Recaro Speed. But my friend told me that it sits pretty high. And I heard that Bride Zeta IIIs sit pretty high on S13s too. So I'm considering getting the Sparco Fighter. Do rails make a difference in the seat height? If that's the case, which ones sit lowest? Any help would be appreciated.

Yea im sorta tall too about 6'1 and i bought sentra spec v seats and i felt like a monster my head is like 2-3 inches from the roof if i sit up stright.but now i just slide down a bit and lean the seat back . Moral of the story buy the seat you like then lean back like a gangsta.

reclinable seats will always sit as high or higher than stock. Period. ur recaro speed will make little difference
if u wanna be low, u need to get a bucket, some Bride FG/Nagisa Auto rails, and tilt ur seat back
also search, there are shitloads of seat threads

I have a cobra suzuka with a nams (i believe) bracket. I flipped the mounting brackets (L-shaped) over in the rear so they face down instead of up and my seat is pretty low. any lower and it would be touching the floorboard.

Cobra Monaco on older Bride MO bottom mount rails. Sits very low and plenty of helmet room.

Sparco Pro2000, Bride FG rails + sunroof = no helmet room. If you have a sunroof and are planning on wearing a helmet, you could
A. buy a full bucket, remove the padding on the bottom and run a Bride FG rail, or
B. Bolt it straight to the floor.
C. Remove the sunroof, and replace it with plexiglass, or weld a sheet of metal over it.
Sunroofs are whack city.

That's a Bride MO rail, not an F(a)G rail. FG rails mount on the side of the seat
I got a Sparco Evo 2 large ass... anyways I had to have mine mounted and welded in and Im about 1/4 inch higher.

Not true. Both my older bride brixes sit lower than stock and are reclineable.

Reclinables are gay. :ghey:
If you want a low seat, get something with sidemount rails.
I have Bride FG rails and a SPL parts seat and its pretty damn low. I could go lower, but theres no need at the moment.

reclineable seats are great when applied correctly... such as a quick release plus hub spacer and bucket seats = limits due to your own size. Reclineable's help you adjust to whatever rails and size you are along with other factors as mentioned before.
the key is applying things correctly for your application.

That's a Bride MO rail, not an F(a)G rail. FG rails mount on the side of the seat
You are correct. Thanks for pointing it out. I just swapped to Kirkey and Bride FG so I got it mixed up.
It's an older Bride bottom mount.

the secret to sitting low with side mount rails and bucket is the GANGSTA LEAN
you can get an extra inch or so outta that method
and you look super cool
Not true. Both my older bride brixes sit lower than stock and are reclineable.
thats the truth right there, the brix I's you got sit MAD low cause the ass cushion isnt so huge like brix II
but for rule of thumb most bottom mount setups have wack ass helmet clearance
too bad bride is lame dousan, well at least the NEW bride stuff
old bride seats kick ass, zeta II, maxis, etc
RECARO is still king tho, my SPG is so awesome
cheaper than bride too

Listen to Logan.
I had NAMS rails and a Buddy club bucket; with the seat on both "low" holes, I did not gain much, if any, headroom.
After I tilted the seat back by moving up to the middle hole in front, I gained at least 1.5-2inches of room.
Again...BUCKET is the only way to truly lower the seat; reclinables do not have rails that can go superlow.
Well, maybe if u get the Bride GAIS and Superlow rails...but thats mad $$$$$

I agree 2 with what logan said, but there are the Bride FX rails that got a shit load of holes for bolting the seat to the lowest position possible.
Sparco EVO + custom seat rails = sitting on the floor pan and tons of headroom.
Yes the regular Evo you can even use seat rails but the Evo2 is wider and even with custom brackets for the Evo2 it still is higher.

also IIRC Evo2 is too wide, hits the door.

I've seen Evo 2 in an S13 with custom rails.
Its doable, but Im 240lbs and Evo II is still loosey goosey on me.
Im going custom just because SPL fatty needs a Juran rail on the top bolt. I want my seat with the gangsta lean on da floor.

i have some 'custom' bracket that scooter made, but it was kinda off center, but pretty low, then i drilled the holes for the seat lower, and rewelded 2 of the holes lower, and rewelded two of the brackets to make it pretty straight, then i had to drill out the holes that bolt to the floor the bracket on to make it work.
its just a stock rail, modified to work w/ side mount. it was hitting the floor so i hammered it out, now its cool. with padding in the seat, my arm is at like a 120 degree angle or so, really high angled up from my body, and im almost 6 foot. its pretty low.
