I plan on taking the motor apart in a couple of months so I can do some head and block work. The oil is still in the motor and I would like to know if I should leave it in for now until I take it apart, or take it out now?

well you need to drain the coolant. if you're taking apart your block too, the motor oil has to go too. but if you pull your motor out with your tranny attached. the tranny oil has to get drained. or else it will spill out from the back where the shaft meets.

tranny and coolant are out. I am more concerned with the timeframe.

Just drain the thing.

makes no difference, its just added weight.
why didnt you drain it before you pulled the motor, that's the time it would have been easiest.

i think he is asking if it is ok to just drain it now, and have it sit there w/o oil, yea i wouldnt see any reason why it would need it in there if its not running...

Punxva understands me. Thanks.

The motor is at an angle where the oil will drain perfectly. Now I know, thank you.

yay! i understood him lol, good luck with it my friend, to the guy above me, why would u leave it in? the only purpose it would serve would be to lubricate the internals, but if they arent moving, then i dont see why you would need to keep it in there, its just more weight and one more thing that could leak.

SRs spend years sitting in yards without fluids.
