I am going to look at an S13 some woman said she would sell to me and I want to get some opinions on price based off of what I know about the car so far.

Cosmetically: Some hub caps missing, passenger mirror glass fell off and is missing, and there is chipped paint on the rear bumper. Doesn't seem to be any dents or at least from the distance I seen.

Interior: I am not sure I haven't seen it up close but I know it has the ugly brown interior.... D:

Engine wise: I am also not very sure, but the woman is the mother of a guy that my friend knows and she has owned it for a while and only drove it to and from work. He found out today that it has 181,000 miles on it which is iffy depeding on how well the car has been taken care of, also its a DOHC motor with the 5-speed tranny.

I'm gonna look at it later today, and this will be my second S13, I just want opinions since I feel I got ripped off with my last one which was a 1993 with messed up interior and denty clearcoat pealing body, that badly needed a a timing chain job (one of the tensioners was loose) and I paid $1700 for it.

Any opinions will be greatly appreciated.

I would have to say it depends on the condition of the vehicle,is it a coupe or hatch? In my area 240's S13 can go from $800 to $2000 just depending on condition. With movies like the F&F drift the prices have been going up.If you can take a pic and post it then we will be able to help you make the decision.

Make sure you pull up the carpet in the rear and check the frame to see if it has been in any accidents/rust. Also check the front. Get the vin number and get a carfax on it.

Ok I just checked it out. This one is a 1993 hatchback, there is no body damage at all, but the rear bumper has paint worn so fresh paint would help it. The interior is dirty and the dash is cracked in quite a few places, nothing a new dash and a vaccum can't fix.

Now for the motor. The engine bay is pretty dirty, like dusty looking. there is a very small droplet of something under the car probably oil but it doesn't seem to be a bad leak. But the big problem is there is quite a timing chain rattle. I wouldn't take any chances of just removing the guide and maybe replacing the tensioner, I would want a knew kit put in there. It almost sounds worse than when I first bought my old one.

She says she can go down to $1800 for it but I think that is too much. I wish I had a camera to take pics. My friend thinks he can get her down some more but personaly after meeting her she seems very firm on the price.

I don't know if I should drop the money right now because it would make things tight for me until I sell my 1990 300zx, which I am waiting for the title in the mail, anyone interested lol?

Any opinions??

Oh and it drives pretty nice, good clutch all gears seem fine, no pulling to the left or right.

Use KBB and Edmunds configured to your Zip code and the options the car has. Show the seller that.

Most sellers are stupid and end up asking for way too much money. They also don't know how to get book value.

Yes, book value is just book value, but if you're asking for 30% over book for your unmaintained piece of junk, I have no comments.
