I get rattles when im in high RPMs such as 5K ish but after shifting it goes away.
And i was thinking of replaceing my timing chain and guides, but dont know how.

So i did a search and found this thread.
http://www.zilvia.net/f/showthread.php?t=114908&highlight=timing+chain

And read that he (she?) took out his guides to keep the chain from tapping agianst it. Now is that even safe?! Never heard of that before.

And i was wondering where you guys get timing guides? And are the ebay brands safe or shit?

Any other info or tips about timing chains on the KA-E are welcome, always willing to learn somthing new.

Thanks

The kae is a single cam head, removing the guids is fine, I don't know of a motor that has them. Buy nissan parts, always better than part store parts. Unless the parts are of a better brand. But nissan parts a re fine. IMHO

sohc timing chain rattle is a different problem. you can't solve it by simply removing the guides... that's a dohc fix

240sx.org, check the FAQ

sounds like its time for a new timing chain/guides/tensioner. IIRC its like 130 bucks if you buy the 'kit' part by part. search aruond here, there was a thread on sohc timing fix that had part numbers in it.
