I got a CEL the other day and i notice my speedometer wasn't working anymore. I figured that the CEL was due to the speedometer circuit. However, driving to work yesterday i got on it in third gear and hit a rev limit at ~5,500 RPM's. I shifted into fourth to lower the RPM's and still got no throttle response until the RPM's dropped into 3k. I got on it again in second, reved out into 6k with no rev limit. Can some one point me in the right direction please. Thank You
Anthony

VSS-Vehicle Speed Sensor. you need a new one.

That will fix the Rev Limit as well?

yes iirc it will. its worth a shot to fix it, since what tipped me off is the fact that you dont have your speedometer. if you dont have ur speedo, then ur ecu isnt registering what speed/gear you are in...blah blah..it initiates a failsafe mode, where you get the fuel cut/rev limit. search around for it, thats how i found out about it.

Cool thanks. on my way to pick up a new door it started working again. I'll take a trip to nissan to order one. is it an easy fix?

your getting speedo cut, had it happen to me when the speedo didnt work, and it wasn't the vehicle speedo sensor it was the actual cluster. Swapped that out and my problem went away.

will a jdm cluster work on a sohc?

in terms of speedo yes but your rpms wont work, different voltage to the tach. But you could take off your stock sohc tach and put it in the JDM one.

oh that would be great. The speedo and everything else would be plug and play? or will it require different wiring?
