Alright, im looking into getting a blacktop s13 from someone local, and one of the things i need is an intercooler... what kind are you guys using? keep in mind im on a budget, so greddy vspl and the like are off limits. Im looking at an srt-4 stock FMIC... what do you guys think?

johnny's intercooler - cheap
ssa
Hybrid
oem gtr
starion

But just to leave you know just buying an intercooler and then getting custom piping might cost as much as getting a kit.
My personal choice - spearco intercooler with custom piping. Spearco makes great intercooler and have specs and flow rates on all their intercooler.
Cheapest no hassle intercooler kit - stock oem smic.

...not always cheapest. Some people wanna charge out the ass for it... which is bs because sometimes it ends up costing more for a wussy smic than for a kit... plus kits are like $300+ and i need to get it RUNNING for as cheap as possible until i can save up cash for a good intercooler and turbo and shit. as far as piping, i can bend piping and stuff and use silicone couplers, thats not a problem. I just cant TIG weld.

The chaepo way (the route i took) was to buy a stock evo intercooler from some guy for $30. Bought some piping of egay 4 $83 and got a free dsm bov from friend. So to sum it up:
1.Evo intercooler:30
2.Piping:83
3:DSM BOV:free
4:No boost leak and nice blow off: Priceless

...yeah but with a FMIC theres a lot more involved with that, like relocating your battery to the back of the car...

Just get an OEM one and then get a nice front mount when you have the money. Should be ~$100 for the stock one.

^^LMAO. If my 800ish watt alpine stuff can fuck up my battery, cant imagine what it would do to those smaller ones... Battery in the back FTW!

sell the stero, use the money to buy an arc smic or hybrid(ebay) fmic and drive lighter...
also, I have a ka for sale if u are in need, I'm in new orleans... $150 pickup
if the ka is out the question, I have some friends who import motors/parts from japan, and they are selling sr's for stupid cheap.....but the only bad thing is they are located in houston....
