Im about to rebuild my SR with a budget in mind and have a few questions for those whole rebuilt their motors already. Im making around 400whp but the motor i recieved 2 years ago is kinda shaddy and has some oil leaks so my list so far is
-CP pistons 9.0:1
-complete engine gasket set
-new bearings
-cometic HG w/ arp studs

My questions are should I spend the extra money and get eagle rods or should the stock rods be fine at these hp levels? As for the pistons go should i spring for the 87mm or 86mm? and is it worth having the head ported and polished? only reason i ask is this is my first engine rebuild im having done and wanted to know what works best.

This car isn't my daily driver nor do i race it often so it really doesn't get abused at all. If theres anything im missing or advice you might want to add that'd be great. Thanks.

Well honestly, rods been proven to last close to 600hp with no issue. Me personally, id keep the stock rods but id get them shot-peened first to give em a bit more strength. As far as goin with 87mm...from what im reading, alot of JDM tuners shun from running 87mm. 87mm and higher, they all recommend sleeves.
