my question is this.

thanks in advance.

Most people just let that sensor dangle, it's not important - the temperature isn't going to be that different inside or outside the tube.

but it throws check engine light, right?

No, it is just a temperature sensor. Most people keep the sensor connected and just move it out of the way not plumbed into anything. You won't get CEL

but will get a cel if u remove the sensor entirely, ya?

probably...

usuaslly if you get the right intake it comes with the maf adapter where you can plug in the intake temp sensor... there was a revision on the OBDII models iirc that companies did take into account so you have to make sure you get the right kit.

if not, you can just put the sensor inside the air filter where the maf adapter is and just have it dangle inside there.

apexi sell the intake with the sensor, I have one.

If you unplug it, you will get a CEL. That happen to me. I never thought about just letting it dangling with the censor. If so I would just relocated it somewhere else

An intake designed for a Kouki will have a grommet for it. If not, drill a hole, fit the OE grommet, then fit the sensor.

But as noted it can be left hanging with no ill effects, it's only used for diagnostics and could care less what the reading is as long as it sees one.

Or another thing that i did when i had my KA was get rid of the sensor all together and slip a resistor on the plug. Just cant remember what the ohmage was.

It's kind of a late post to the thread but this link should clear some things up for you:

does having an aftermaret CAI affect the CEL or cause smog issues?

If you install it correctl, you'll get no CEL.

As for smog issues...you'll pass the sniffer just fine, but if there's no CARB #...I'd guess you'll fail some visual inspection, but the CA guys need to chime in if that's what you're asking.
