Here's my breakdown
Gas: $100 a month
Insurance: $0 woohoo! parents pay it for now...
Payments: $150 a month
Total: $250 Per month just to keep it on the road.
Not including the $25 every 2 months I spend on oil/oil filter, misc cleaning stuff, or any other general maintenance stuff I do.

Don't include how much you spend on aftermarket modifications or car accidents this is an average...

It's nice to only drive your car on the weekends! I could go about 5-6 mos. b/n oil changes (at 3K mi.) if it weren't for track events.

It sure is nice to only have to drive my 240SX on the weekends.. of course I drive my GTI every weekday..

$0 payment
$54 insurance
$15 gas
It's never needed a repair, oil change and fluid check every 6mo. or so...

Very cheap car to own as a second "fun car". By virtue of being a daily driver, and more expensive to start with, and fully insured, the GTI costs about four times as much to operate.

i pay

40.00 a week for gas=160.00 a month

140.00 a month for insurance and
about30-40.00 in misc stuff

payment: 0
insurance: $20
gas: ?? not much, i drive it 3 days a week now.
total: under $50 a month

when i called to get insurance on the blazer, the girl gave me the 25+ yo discount for the 240SX. can't argue with that. especially when i have 3 more years to be 25.

i posted that in august (this thread is really old). now the going rate where i'm at is around $1.75-$1.85 depending on city. you can get some in parts of LA for $1.61

$2+ for premium around ortega highway..have to be a damn fool to pay that much on a regular basis.

Haha I just noticed that your post from was August. But yeah I still think that on average, Northern California gas is still more expensive--at least compared to the various parts of LA/OC I'm in every couple weeks. But getting gas between the Bay Area and LA along the 5 seems to be another one of the big ripoffs...$2/gal for premium a few days ago...sigh. I can't wait to find a job in socal...cheaper gas, cheaper insurance, more 240s. Woohoo!
