couple days ago i was driving in a hot afternoon downtown, ran into a shopping bag and it stuck under my car, i stop right away and try as hard as i can to pull it off, but its too late, the bag melt on on my exhaust. (i even burnt my hand when attempting to pull the bag out)
now the remaining pieces of the bag are like cheese stuck on my exhaust, its stuck too hard when cold and unable to reach when hot, what can i do, i cant stand the melting plastic toxic smell anymore and i worry that it would catch on fire. any chemical that i can use to rub it off?
thx

You could also just let it melt away it will eventually go away. It can't melt forever you know. Scrape off as much as you can... the let it melt away and like wear a mask or get a really strong air freshner for the time being. Or take it to the car wash and spray it with the pressure washer that might do it.

goo gone, 3M adhesive remover...
maybe a dremel tool with a rubber attachment? (thats how we got the tape off of helmets at work...) just a few suggestions.

is it on a stock exhuast? if it is, you might want to use a air sander on it. when its cold of course.

lol.. something like this happened to me, but it was a foam cooler that got stuck under my car while my friend was test drifting my car in a local parking lot that we hang out at. Dotn worry, all the shops there are closed at night and we didnt do it anywhere near anything dangerous. Anyways, a few larger chunks got stuck in misc. places in my motor bay, many of which i couldnt reach cuz im fat, and my 240 is lowered. so eventually most of it melted away, and a particularly large chunk fell out in someones driveway as i backed out, when i left... i was delivering them a pizza lol!

hmmmm...i ran over a rubbermaid storage container on the freeway with my daily driver because i wasnt thinking and thought i was driving the company truck; thought i could run right over it. oops! you're complaining about a shopping bag? i dragged that shit for miles with people staring at me and had green goop all over the place for months.
do like usher and "let it burn"

Just leave it. Over time the plastic will get small and hard where you can pick it if off. If you want it off now, use a razor. It metals not like you can really damage it with a razor. It will leave scratches, but it under the car, so who cares.

use oven cleaner. I use it on my exhaust pipes on my bike when i accidently step on it and get black rubber melted onto it. (it has to be hot when doing this though)
