He's asking the generation of the motor, not the chassis. We have a friend VERY into MR2s, that's why we'd be buying the motor.

All motors in mr2 turbo's should be gen 2 3sgte's unless they were dumb enough to toss in a gen 1 from the 88-89 celica all trac turbo.

Is the bracket that is under the intake mani a ps pump bracket? If so then you've got yourself a celica all trac motor on your hands there. Perhaps you had swapped in a celica all trac motor in your deuce and swapped brackets and parts? Nonetheless a 3sgte is a 3sgte in terms of gen 1 through gen 3. Good luck with the sale.

you guys are completely wrong about this, the motor that he is selling is a gen 1 3SGTE, the gen 2 3SGTE has a ceramic CT-26 turbo charger with the ceramic turbine wheel not steel as the gen 1, the easy way of telling if the motor is a gen 1 or a gen 2 is looking at the intake manifold, it would say Ceramics Power. and gen 2 3SGTE is only availble in japan. all USDM SW20 are gen 1. i use to own a NA SW21 then swap out the 5SFE for a 2th gen 3SGTE from japan.

The what gen 3sgte did the 88-89 celica all trac turbo have and what gen did the 3sgte in the 90-93 celica all trac turbo have then? I think your research is inaccurate because according to my information and owning three st185's you are completely giving out false information which we do not need.

That's a list of 3sgte generations ranging from one to three. Fourth gen is not listed and comes in the Toyota Caldina GTT in Japan. Hope this has cleared up some confusion on the 3sgte and sale. ST185 and SW20 has 2nd gen 3sgte motors just that st185 has a top mount intercooler with alternator mounted up top near oil filter and SW20 is the opposite with a smic. The 1st gen 3sgte comes out of the 88-89 celica all trac turbo with lower compression and w/a tmic.

well u can try to go on ebay and type in 1st gen and 2nd gen. they will show that first gen is from celica and some r 2nd gen, and sw20 r all 2nd gen...
