just a quick question and i searched and no luck...maby i missed one though.



is the auto tcu and teh 5 spd tcu the same????

Think. Think hard. Why would a manual trans need a TCU? You manually shift the gears, and apply the clutch - quite manually. The ECU recieves a 5th gear signal from a switch on the trans, but thats about it.

so your saying that manual cars dont have a tcu???
because my 5spd has one and so does my auto....just wondering

Correct. TCU = Transmission control unit....

I have no clue why your manual transmission would have one....are you sure someone forgot to remove it when doing a 5spd swap?

Incorrect. TCU= timing control unit. The device that handles rear defrost, key warning buzzer, etc. on S13s, found in the driver kick panel. Probably why both cars have it.

Nissan does not call the transmisison computer a TCU. Those who do are just confusing everyone.

Thanks for the correction...but I was under the assumption he was talking about transmission control units.

Could be, but we don't know that. While it's hopeful to think he's not that stupid, we are talking about a 240SX owner. A new one at that, with a recent join date and low post count. Assumption is the mother of all fuckups.
