I went into a shop the other day and asked if they could put my battery in the trunk and make my intake so the pipiping runs down to where the battery used to be. The guy said sure and told me he'll do all of it for $350 and he said he was giving me some sort of cage or box for my battery in the trunk. (BTW...I got a 95) You guys think i should invest in that?

I don't know. What type of piping is putting custom bent, size of piping, filter, gonna be a c.a.i., etc...need more details .

You know you can get the injen intake with the extension for $250 or so. Also, relocating the battery isn't really that difficult of a job. You might look into doing it yourself. I think there is a thread in the archives on it, not sure though.

Anyways, it all comes down to what you think, it's your car. If $350 sounds like a good deal to ya, it's your choice. Just my opinion....Mark.

summit racing battery relocation kit (http://store.summitracing.com/default.asp?target=%2Fproduct%2Easp%3Fd%3D11%26s%3 D14%26p%3D2090%26searchtype%3Decat)
I would just buy this kit and an injen intake w/extension.

It'll be cheaper and you get something that you know for sure works.

Is there some reason you wanted it on the same side as the battery?

Putting the battery in the trunk isn't hard, do it yourself for the cost of the wire and the brackets you can make for nothing... you just put to screw hold through the floor (not into the gas tank) then for the cold air... get that yourself to, get a muffler shop to bend the pipe for you (in more than 1 piece, so much easier to instal) they will prolly do that for 100 bucks with the piping included... then choose whatever filter you want. CAI's aren;t rocket science... for now I am running a cone filter on the end of stock everything... it helps, it's not great, but it only cost me 15 bucks canadain cause I got the filter for free... 2-4 horses for 15 bucks? I thought it was a good deal, and I never regret it when I hear the sound it makes... I never will either, cause it'll still work on a turbo setup.

are you planning to stay n.a. or you going turbo down the line?
if your going sr20 or ka-t later on save your money or spend it on handling.

I wanted the intake to go down through the same side of the battery to have a shorter distanced cold air intake. In the future I plan on going turbo so I knew I should ask you guys how good a bargain this really was...which now I see isn't a very good one. I took a look under the hood after I went to the shop and got myself a good idea on how to relocate the battery. Now I just gotta go to the muffler shop and see what kind of piping to get (how wide in diameter...what kind of material...how long the pieces) If anyone can help with that you would really be helping for the greater good of the 240ness

Yeah....but Summit has one for $45 if I'm not mistaken. And you know all of us try to save as best we can

Thats fine if you are never going to race. But SCCA, NASA, and whatever drag clubs are out there require a battery box that is either sealed and/or has a tube venting to the outside.

exactly, plus battery fumes are toxic...although I'm not sure what the duration is that you'd have to be before it really starts to affect you.

come on, it's not that expensive to get a battery relocation kit. just spend the money on that instead of getting pedals or shift knob

Well I changed my mind now after a day at the races so I'll just save my money for a turbo setup or sr swap.

Now if I can find someone to help me out with a CAI setup for $80 or anywhere less than $100 i'll go for it but for now it looks like i'll just save and go for turbo.
