so i have a 96 s14 and i tried to pass emissions and they said that i had rich idle. it melted my catco cat. the ppl at the muffler shop said that unused fuel built up in there then ignited. ive had the greddy turbo kit for my ka for over a year now without any problems. i also have an hks bov. do i need a recurculation kit, FPR, advance the timing? i need help.

Do you have a wideband? what do your AFRs look like? check for vacuum leaks? fuel pressure gauge?

i dont have a wideband and i dont have vacuum leaks. i dont have a fuel pressure gauge. i have a walbro fuel pump and 370cc injectors. i heard that a open atmosphere bov will cause rich idle.

pressure test your intercooler piping, and maybe replace your O2 sensor

i dont believe the bov is leaking nor the intercooler piping. i'll double check that and see if the o2 sensor is bad. thanks for the help.

Many BOVs stay open durring idle whch will cause you to run rich. I just read that u have an HKS SSQV. Those are pull types and dont leak on idle so thats not ur issue. O2 sensor is something i'd look at. I would also question your tune but you have a wideband...
