View Full Version : Guineepigs wanted Also V8 swap kit press release.

Hi I was wondering if anyone here wants to be a guineepig for us. The main purpose of this project is to further develop the streetability and durability of our v8 swaps. We need some real world drivers who thrash their cars day to day. This way we can ensure the longevity of our soon to be availible complete swap packages, turn key cars, and bar legal products. With the onset objective of reducing cost, and making our items carb verified for ease of legalizing v8 hybrid s chassis cars.

This would be a huge step forward in the 240sx community as a whole. With a readily availible cost effective v8 swap package. These will utilize the Chevy ls series of motors, also including the ford 302 5.0l motors which can be bought for $300-500. We allready have our oilpan on autocad, and should be submitting it to be patented when we recieve our final real world fitment results. The main reason the carb approval would be needed is simply because there is no way to use a stock ls series header in the s chassis. This requires an aftermarket header, and we would need to have it carb approved along with our full header back exhaust systems which will also be availible coming december to be legal.

This is the first real publically annouced release of information since conception of the project. We will be posting pics soon, but will keep the actual mounting equipment pics private until we have them secured. This should prove to be an exciting time for the 240 community, and the forums since the raised popularity will most certainly attract domestic performance part manufacturer sponsors.

This original concept has been devised as a result of my own expieriences with the reliability, cost, availibility, durability, and practicality of the current motor choices for vehicles.

Imagine having a motor that cost the same as a ka (302) and with minimal effort you can install it in a weekend with some friends. Drive down to the ref on monday, get it signed off, and your done. No hassle from cops, no expensive or hard to find parts, and a buttload of power.

Mods: Keep in mind i am not trying to sell our products in the chat forum, we are not currently selling any of our products, and are simply trying to attract potential suport from the community by utilizing them as real world testers in different conditions.

If any of you are intersted in this, and would like to find out how we can help you get up and running. Please pm me. We are not offering free parts, but we are willing to work out a discount, and the labor with the right people.

Thanks.

The LS engine series is far more appealing to me than the 5.0, the numbers they seem to put out with the same ammount of money spent on LS seem kind of lame. I'd definately volunteer but I'm doing a ground up sort of restore of my s14 and you need someone now, so. Yeah.

Damn, if I was over in Cali I would so do it!

Luke and I talked about the potential of the LS1 engine in an S-chassis on AIM (I'm Opeth4ever btw) so yeah, I'm definitely interested. Too bad I'm currently in Canada visiting relatives and I live in FL.

Fuck.

Yes primarely this would be for the ls series. The 302 would be the cost effective option.

Pm's will be replied too later tonight.

What modifications are necessary to physically swap a 5.0 into an s-chassis car other than motor/transmission mounts and driveshaft? I have been interested in this sort of swap into my S14 for some time, but the only thing holding me back are potential modifications to the crossmember and/or the oilpan.

From pictures and research that I have seen for 5.0 swaps there is not a header issue like on LSx motors. Just swap on some shorty headers and make a custom exhaust from there.

i live far from you so i dont' know how this will work ... live in nyc.

i am down if you are? :wavey:

i drive everyday to work on my s14 and i thrash it... not trash it...

60 miles of road testing going back and forth from work , i do about 150 a day so ... i think that would be a good benchmark for your products ^^

LS series motors FTW.. but hell, anything is better than my blown KA... i wonder how much it would cost in gas to take my moms truck and tow my 240 on the trailer to cali? lol... and i put hella miles on my 240... i registered it on 3/11 and by 7/2, i had put over 10k miles on it...

ls1 vs 302 ..
its been discussed numerous times
the ls1 is more expensive baseline compared to 302
and with the 302 you have more money to spend on bolt ons...

dillusion13
07-19-2006, 10:56 AM

07-19-2006, 12:30 PM
Wish I can loan the S14 as a prototype....oh wells :/ Odd question....but A/C would not work with such a swap...right?

sick, hmmm so tempting since it is legal.

As for the AC question, I'm sure luke can wire it and after that all you will need are custom AC lines

So when is the approximate date that you can get all the CARB stuff settled by? Are you looking to give people free motors and kits?

blu808
07-19-2006, 04:31 PM
fly:

No we are not giving away parts. We will be selecting a few people to cover the costs of labor, and they will recieve parts at almost cost.

I have emailed HSC and been in contact with them about the LS1 in a S13. Although it looks like I will have to wait till next spring to start that (body work and other things I have to figure out), so I am bummed out about that. I still believe I will have the first v8 powered 240sx in my province...

Are you talking about the s13 or s14 or both here??

What kind of patent will you be applying for?

07-20-2006, 04:56 PM
+1 for V8 swap kit.......... i would go buy a 240 if there was kit to swap a ford 302 into it...we all know the ls1 is the god of V8 engins but IMO the 302 would have to be > any other V8 besides the ls1 ...... just wanted to say this is a great idea

if you guys are serious i have an s14 with a blacktop sr20 in it... i just got the motor in there havent even got it started yet, i will ship my car there, you can sell the sr20, hks turbo, grid ecu, etc... as long as i dont have to pay anything for the swap other than shipping i will do it

07-20-2006, 05:35 PM
You'd be better off selling all that stuff yourself. I doubt they want undertake selling all your stuff to try to make enough money to pay themselves. Just my thoughts. Good luck to Luke and the boys at Hinson. You know I'm there when the funds are ready. :D

Hey Luke, my boy Hoyu bought V's S14. He got the perfect chassis right now since the KAs been pulled a while back. He has decided on a V8 but has been indecisive as far as to either go LS or 302. You got any ideas on pricing? I know for a fact that he is serious about this. If your looking for a S14 test mule chassis in norcal, hit him up or rex or just PM me and lemme know wussup.
