are you sure the geforce 2 supports the dual lcd??

at one point i ran 2 20.1 inch widescreen lcds. got too big to handle, took up all my peripheral.

All a splitter does is replicate the primary monitor.

If you want to support two monitors, you need a video card that can support two monitors.

What's the purpose/use for the dual screen setup? Gaming, home use - the geforce ones are aight. Graphic/ Video work - think of a quality Open GL card. I use an older All In Wonder 7500 at home but I don't play games anymore. At work, I use a Matrox entry level Parhelia and love it.

I would stay away from splitters.

You either need a video card with 2 outputs, or 2 video cards, or 1 video card + the onboard video (if any) but that one is more difficult/seldom works. I also recommend Matrox for 2D and simple gaming. Intense gaming I recommend ATI.

Decent dual DVI cards will set you back about about $70-$80 for PCI-E versions, a little more for AGP versions. No use in getting a Matrox anymore nowadays for 2D quality (unless you need some of the very specific features of the matrox cards) since LCD's use a digital connection (DVI) if you get a decent monitor, most cards will do 2D about the same quality.

Agree with you atom but I needed mine for Avid Xpress support. The Parhelia line is also their line of professional graphics cards; mine is the entry level version though. True dual DVI support also rocks.

I'm going to Best Buy tomorrow to get a dual monitor card. I've got one 17" tube monitor and one 17" flat screen. Now I'll be able to watch videos and surf the web at the same time.

^ hahah Roger that.

I use to Duel Screen two 19" LCD's at work, but when i work with autocad, the middle of them just pisses me off, really if you will buy two whole new monitors, you might as well pitch it all the money on a good video card and a large monitor.

or else you end up like me, work on one screen ....................

07-22-2006, 11:12 AM
the above was my setup in 2002...

I guess now with the large 30" crazy big monitors you can get now, just get one of those...

back in the day when I produced music... ehe h

hmmm at my work we use dual monitors. i looked behind the computer and its one plug connecting from the video card and splits to 2 female connectors. One LCD is set up to display what you normally see on one monitor, and the other LCD you just drag whatever application and maximize or w/e in it. Didn't realize it was that easy

I built this system in 2000!!! Yes in 2000. Other than adding extra HDs(now have 3 for a total of 600GB) everything has stayed the same. Same mobo and still rocking the PIII 733. lol Originally I built it for day trading. Still do that everyonce in a while. You would be suprised how much you can do with a PIII.

The rig has 4 Samsungs, (2) 20" and (2) 17" with a 13" sharp TV in top right. Bought the TV back in 95. lol

Anyways 2 monitors is the min. I would ever use. Once you try two you will never go back to one. My old man has a 15". It's like how can you get anything done?

I have (1) matrox dual monitor video card (6+ years old) and (2) plain jain ATI single monitor PCI video cards(also 6+ years old). Gives me 4 screens.

You will need one more video card.

I put central ac in my house, but never use it unless it gets in the 90s. The room is pretty big with 4 windows. I don't notice any temp difference from any other room in my house.

Try day trading, web designing, video and music editing with one screen. Day trading I would say 4 screens is the min.

It's not how many eyes you have that matters it's the real estate that matters.

Do what all the time? Trading, web design, what? You can trade stocks, futures, forex markets both foreign and domestic 24/7. How long is your work day? If you want to be a successful trader a couple hrs of research, studying and trading the market won't come close to cutting it. Day trading is a full time job. How long do you thing it takes to build a web site???

Not sure what your problem is with having more than one monitor.

It's like going up to someone who has a four car garage and saying "I'm sure you are working on all four cars at the same time. Don't strain yourself".

Why am I even trying to convince you that a multiple monitor setup can increase productivity and workflow. I must be :fawk2: :loco:

Out.

1 video card up to 3 monitors

www.matrox.com/graphics/offhome/gxm.cfm

"Your GXM appears to your system as a single, very wide display, and reports resolution via the standard EDID structure. It connects to your computer using your standard analog RGB connector. These palm-sized boxes build on the graphics hardware already present in your system, and won't reduce the image quality or speed of your system."
